Thanks to Lornce for teaching my nephew how to tie wooly buggers, Murray for the private tying lesson and Smitty for the positive comments! Nice to meet all three of you.

I've had good experience with Knifewear in Inglewood.
+1 Likewise, i have mine sharpened annually at Knifewear. Two Calgary locations (Inglewood and Calgary Farmers Market). They also donate portion of sharpening proceeds to local charities.

Please add my condolences to his family, friends and fly fishing network. Those who share their knowledge and help out the new to the sport are massively missed.

Thank you all, basement it is with waders in hanging position. Advice appreciated.

Thanks to Big Dirty (Streamer tips) and Big Foamy (photo step by step fly tying assistance). Both of you really helped me advance my fly fishing skills this year!
Finally to David, Nancy and the fantastic staff at FishTales for their patience with my questions and assistance throughout the season.

Quick question as I know I won't be winter fishing unless its a nice El Nino year with temps above +5C
Is it hard on the rods, reels, nets and waders to leave them in the garage with our Calgary possibility of extreme cold?
Where do you guys store your fly fishing gear for " winter shutdown"?
Don't want to do irreparable damage to my gear with rookie mistakes.

Also drop by MEC when you are in Calgary .....lots of great Gore Tex options there (mec.ca for pre scouting)

Judges ruling and amount of the fines needed to send a much stronger message...... add me to the list of the disappointed

well done Jordan, appreciate you keeping this in the forefront.

Took an intermediate FF course from him in May this year......he got me into some fish! I'm a fan.

Another vote for Weedman, I'm in year three with them. Like that they always phone day prior to let me know they will be dropping by.
I aerate later in the Fall (not Spring). You get deeper plug as ground is totally thawed and Fall rains and snow melt get down to the roots for a quick start in the Spring.
I overseed my grass each year in May. I buy my seed at Costco and believe it's Scotts with great results. Will add play sand as UberFLy has suggested....good idea

Just nice scenery by the river when I walk. Path goes right by the river so it's pretty convenient as well.

Heard it on 660 News on way home......
Like the idea of us forumites watching out for those who may not have heard (benefit of the doubt here) when we might be out walking the river, and letting anyone fishing know the river is closed to angling.

Very Cool rain picture and I'm sure he will never forget his first trout!

I'm happy with my intermediate level Griffin Blackfoot Mongoose vise. Should come in under $200 CDN. SilverDoctor makes a great point that you may want to grab one quickly before the Canadian dollars' slump (since interest rates were lowered by BOC in July) gets factored into new inventory and prices shoot up further. Was at Fish Tales last week and they also had several vises, but I did not look at prices; some of them are set up by the end of the wooden fly bins and you could try them out.

Quick note to say great to meet Murray, Lornce and Smitty and the FFC booth. Thanks to Murray for the private tying lesson for someone new to the sport and tying! I'm still practicing my bare hook whip finishing......
I enjoyed the show and also found great deals on flies, fishing shirts, buffs but missed out of the wading boot deals (by Sunday the sizing was well picked over)
