Theres lots of used gear out there for reasonable prices. If your looking for packages there are a few that are reasonable. I would start the boys out with a Redington package. They run about $150. I coached both my kids and they built their own rods with glowing pride. Both kids still have those rods and have never broke them. If you tie your own flies its a great way to involve them as well. If you don't tie then the three of you could do a class together as well. Theres great pride in building your own flies with your family. Just my $0.02 worth. All the same, enjoy your time spent with your family exploring the flyfishing world.

Hey gang... I happen to be in Calgary for family business for the next week or so. I managed to pack my fly gear/6wts/10wt and some goodies with me. I am loaded with everything from size 22 chironnys to 10" pike monster flies. Unfortunately, I didn't bring a boat and am dieing to get out on some Stillwater ( as I drove here from BC It was obvious the rivers are all blown out). If anyone needs a fishin partner, please contact me... via the web page. or message me. The guys at Country pleasures were informative but I still think a boat on these stillwaters would be the ticket. I caught a few hammer handles at the bridge on chestermere this afternoon but know theres more water. Any hints on Glenmore? is it bank fly fishable? Any tips would be appreciated, Im willing to help on fuel etc. Cheers....
