  1. An incredibly thoughtful response. Please read. http://flyfishalberta.com/jensenflyfishing/ram-river-a-response-to-the-angling-mgt-survey/
  2. I posted this poll a couple years ago...I thought it was time to update the list and try it again. Islander & Pfleuger came 1-2 last time. I know I left out a few brands, but 20 choices should be enough for a lifetime. Full disclosure I voted Waterworks.
  3. Red Deer Rod & Gun Show, May 7th-8th, 2011 at the Agri-trade Centre on the Westerner Fair Grounds. I will have a booth, selling tons of hunting, camping & fly fishing gear. A mix of old and new. Stop by and say hi. Cheers, NM
  4. Is there a $5.00 coupon available for the Expo as in previous years?
  5. Just wondering if anyone here ever pans for gold on fishing trips. I gather there isn't much to be found in Alberta. I hear the NSR has some gold dust in the gravel bars. I have some old pans of my father's, but never tried it out.
  6. And I did...Just picked up a new 5wt 8'-6 mid flex. The price was a steal.
  7. Riley, The Red Deer River is closed until the 3rd Friday of May.

  9. I'm thinking about picking up one of these wicked sticks. Either the 4wt 8'-6 mid flex or the 6wt 9'-6 tip flex. Anyone have any reviews?
  10. Thank you to the ones who have donated a few items. Additional thanks to Maxwell. Sorry I missed some of you at the show.
  11. Thanks for all the offers guys. Much appreciated. Hello maxwell, I might be at the Expo on Friday, I will be the 6'-8 guy with the olive Whistler FF hat. keep in touch. Hello Bigbowtrout, The vest would be great. Will you be at the Expo? Hello Tungsten, murray & 126Barnes, I believe Alden did not have any tenant insurance. Hello Uberfly & Headscan, Alden had a 4wt Scott with a Lamson reel, an older 5wt Orvis with an LL Bean reel, and a 6wt Sage Z-Axis (690) w/ a Loop reel. Tough loss. We will keep a look out thanks. Hello eatsleepfishrepeat, Alden had 1 box of dries (parachute & grizzly adams, caddis, some green & brown drakes, flying ants etc) and 1 box of nymphs (bead head pheasant tails, prince nymphs, San Juan worms etc). Thank you for the offer.
  12. Hello All, My buddy had all of his fly fishing gear ripped off from his truck over the Christmas holidays. He had a big bag with everything including 3 rods in it. He was new to the sport and I don't want him to give it up, because he really enjoyed himself on the water. I donated him my old 4wt, but he can't afford much more. If anyone has any old rods, reels, lines, flies, leaders, vests etc. you don't use it would be much appreciated. I can pick-up in Calgary or Edmonton. PM me if you would like. Thank you.
  13. Golden Cutthroat Brown Rainbow Brook Bull Walleye to do list: Grayling Pike Tiger Steelhead Goldeye Arctic Char Atlantic Salmon
  14. passing this along... TUC Members: It is with grief and sadness that we inform you that Doug Cressman, Trout Unlimited Canada’s Chief Executive Officer, passed away this morning. As many of you know Doug fought a long and courageous fight against cancer. His spirit never waned and his passion for the work of Trout Unlimited Canada never diminished. He will be missed by everyone in the TUC organization and by all of those who believe in the importance of protecting the places where wild fish swim free. In this difficult time we ask that your thoughts be with Doug’s family. We will provide information regarding funeral arrangements as they are available. Kimberly Davidson Membership Coordinator Trout Unlimited Canada
  15. http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2009/07...co.html?ref=rss Sorry, its too late. I already caught the first one on a fly rod.
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHhevmcNoRo Check out the 5:00 minute mark. Disturbing that fly-fishers can be so careless. Ridiculous. Jason
  17. Jim, any ideas for the next book? "The Rattlesnakes of Stauffer Creek" maybe?
  18. Gearing up for my first steelhead trip in Northern California in late Feb/early March. Can't wait!!!
  19. What happened to the Monthly Fly Fusion Magazine Subscription Draws?
  20. Golden trout of Alberta - Check Steelhead of California - On my way! Grayling on the Little Smoky, AB Cutthroat on the Elk River, BC Salmon & Steel on Vancouver Island, BC Kamloops trout Lakes, BC The Blackfoot River, MT Atlantic Salmon on the Miramichi, NB I just can't seem to pry myself from the beautiful Brown & Cutthroat waters of Central Alberta! There is never enough time. Right now I am focusing on planning 1 trip at a time. I'll get there...
  21. I am heading to the Trinity River in northern California for my first ever Steelhead trip. My uncle lives in San Francisco and the river is fishing very well this winter. Trinity Steelhead average from 5-7 lbs with an occasional 8-12 lb. They are a mixture of wild and hatchery fish. Any tips for the rookie Steelhead angler? We are targeting a late February/early March trip with the possibility of taking steel on dries. Occasionally with the warm afternoons of late winter they get hatches of stoneflies and PMD’s, where they catch Steelhead on the surface. Large rainbow & brown trout are also present. Can't wait!
  22. Whereabouts did you catch the searun cuttie on the Sunshine Coast? I've done a little fishing in the area.
