  1. Its funny you asked this today.... I always setup my dropper rigs off the hook bend of the fly above. For whatever reason today, the tippet slid off that top hook at least 5 times and I lost the bottom fly each time obviously. One of my most frustrating days. I've maybe lost 1 fly to this in the past 2 years. I broke a hook pinching a barb also. Grrrrrrrrrrrr........ weather was nice though. Most of mine are from stupid stuff like trees or snags.
  2. I also had mine done at Canadian Tire. I went to the Shawnessy one. I was surprised they didn't find anything major on a well used Honda Civic from BC. They had to weld a muffler bracket but it was cheap and done fast.
  3. That's too bad... didn't know it was going on. I'll have to pay more attention to events.
  4. A bit late but just saw this on the fish tales site: http://www.fishtalesflyshop.com/2012/09/03/spey-o-rama-october-23-2011-2/ Spey-O-Rama – April 21, 2013 This on-river session will be the same format as previous Fish Tales Spey-O-Ramas. A Fish Tales staffer will give a brief spey-casting demonstration which will be followed up with the opportunity for all attendees to try out a two-hand setup. Fish Tales demo rods and line setups will be available to all attendees and we encourage folks who already have gear to bring it along. Location: Bankside in Fish Creek Park. Session will run from 1 – 3 p.m. (weather permitting.) Please dress for the weather including waders. No pre-registration required. This is part of our Sunday seminar series that runs most Sundays from late October through December and mid-January through April.
  5. Any local shops (Calgary area) sell the float tube version of Forcefins? If I have to order online what do you guys suggest for a size? I would wear my wading boots with them on. My shoe size is 10.5, my wading boots are a simms 12. Or anyone wanting to part ways with theirs? XXL or XXXL?
  6. Thanks for the responses all. I'll give some of these suggestions a try. With 15 cm of snow coming to the Calgay area today, it might be a good shopping day.
  7. In the Bow for about 5 hours today and froze my feet. Any suggestions? I'm wearing Gore-Tex with some pretty hefty wool socks and good fitting boots. - Battery heated socks? any good brands? do they work? - Shove some hand warmers in my socks? - Man up?
  8. Thanks for your thoughts the three of you. I think you have convinced me. U-tube in the spring. Thanks again.
  9. Hi Folks, Been reading the forum for a couple weeks now, great resource for a BCer now living in AB. I'm in the market for another float tube. I've used a Caddis truck tire round tube for years in BC and really don't mind any of the cons (sitting lower in the water). I tried an Outcast Fish Cat 4 one time and found that the wind blew me around way too much. The U-tubes seem to be all the rage these days. Anyone else find these high sitting Fish Cats or others get blown around in the wind too much or was I just having a bad day? I'd rather not use an anchor. Any other suggestions for "modern" float tubes, round or u-tube, that don't get blown around in the wind? I see Wholesale Sports still sells a round tube Caddis I might go for. Thanks, Chris
