  1. Thanks man. I have them oriented properly, and they dont ride upside down, they just flop over onto their sides... I removed some of the marabou like max suggested and I'll see how that goes. Thanks for you help.
  2. Same fly but olive/white, same problem...
  3. No I haven't tried with another pattern.....didn't want to waste as their quite expensive, thats a good thought though.. 100% not upside down, the keel is on the bottom.
  4. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has tied with fish skulls and if so have you had any problems with them? Ive been tying a few articulated minnow patterns (bottom pic whitefish=grey/white) with them. When I tested them out they roll over onto their sides instead of riding true(hook point down) in the water. From my understanding the fish skulls should eliminate the problem, having 70% of mass below hook shank, hence why I paid $ for them lol. I am curious if its something in the construction of the fly that may be altering the mechanics of it... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The other pics are circus peanuts in various colours. Geordon
  5. Hey guys, fairly new to Calgary and the board, this is my first post. I am from southern ontario, and a lot of the rivers sort of dictate nymphing vs. swinging. I dont know if anyone here would even consider great lakes steelhead "steelhead", although many of the river have "wild" steelhead populations, but in any case most of the rivers are fairly small and better suited to nymphing, while some of the larger rivers (grand, maitland, niagara) are better suited to swinging. Ive caught steelies both ways, but to be honest I prefer to nymph. You dont necessarily have to run an indicator, a lot of the time I dont, especially when the water is clear (as it often is), and I think its a lot of fun fishing pocket water that is usually over looked and catching fish where other people dont. However, when I did catch my first steelie on a swung olive zonker, it was pretty wild....... ..... Nymphing is definitely productive, and not always done with egg patterns.
