This is the radio I use here in BC for our logging roads, totally programmable for our roads here. And licensed or not the truck drivers appreciate knowing where you are, only use it to monitor traffic and call out KM's, always get a thumbs up from the logging trucks that pass me.

I think that is just a old piece of tape or sticker of some kind..
yup much too close to the next guide, old glass rods had some crazy guide spacing, Certainly look's Fenwick-ish to me.

He was/is a Vision Rep and is now trying to blow out his stock. I'm at the point where I'm thinking he never intended to take anyone out fishing at all. Cash n Dash
He is no longer involved with Vision Canada, when he was, he was a "field staff' meaning he was able to purchase(?) gear at guide cost. I would hope that any money he gets from selling the gear will go towards paying back the amount that is owed to Vision Canada, doubtful though.

Awesome!! Sounds like a blast and I can fill you in on some North Island fishing but for anything on the South then Dave would be a good resource. Also join the NZ forum http://www.flyfishingforum.co.nz/
For the north island Taupo is where you want to be or in Turangi. Both towns are trout crazy. Trout on signs, streets and just about everywhere. I've fished the Tongariro and caught a few nice lake run trout. Super nice river steeped in history. If you stay in Turangi you can stay and just walk to the river. Lots of accommodations close to the river. But so far my favorite are the smaller creeks that are between Turangi and Taupo. The Waitahanui is a beauty of a river, this is the river I caught my monster brown on(30"), it's just one sweet pool after another. You can also fish the mouth of this river shoulder to shoulder with all the others as the fish leave the lake to go upstream. Super cool to see super large fish swim by as pumice stones float past. The Hinemaiaia is another stunner of a river with lots of great holding water. Both these streams are easy to walk with great trails. I would recommend fishing on the weekdays and site see on the weekend. If you need more detailed info drop me a pm.
The Waitahnui is a beautiful river, watched some massive trout (rivaled any of the VI steelhead I had seen up to that point) lazily swim around completely oblivious to my cicada patterns. The evening bite at the mouth where it flows into Lk. Taupo was a blast. Saw some folks casting nets on a few beaches for some Mackeral and what not, sure they could have been tempted to take a fly if one gave it a shot.
Spent a month there but never did get to the South Island, certainly on my bucket list, Darrin you are a lucky guy, enjoy!!

I have taken back my previous support of Shoreline Risers and Andrew Watson, there are certainly some problems there in regards to his business dealings. Hope he can turn it around but until then anyone with any outstanding money owing or other concerns would probably be best contacting the Cochrane RCMP.

A couple wraps of golfer's lead tape around the spool before you put on the backing and line will help and save you the cost of getting another reel. Some rod manufactures actually suggest what weight of reel to balance the rod, to bad not all of them do, nothing on Sage's website.

In Calgary, unfortunately no one, what line are you looking for? I may be able to help.

Thats the falls below the Gap.
On the Maycroft road just before the Gap, you'll see all the vehicles parked on the right at the trailhead. Half a dozen parked there yesterday.

Is there anyone on here from Ft Mac who's staying in Calgary and wants to get on the water for a bit to relieve stress? I've got a 5wt outfit I could lend out.
I've got lots here as well, waders, rods, flies what ever you could need.

Laser Therapy Solutions..You"ll wonder where the pain went !!
Did it work for you? and what are the costs like (repeat visits ect.) I'm on my 4th round of cortisone for my shoulder and would love to try an alternative.
Picking up the spey rod was one of the best things I did for my tennis (chefs) elbow, on longer outings I don't have any pain at all, unlike using the singlehand rod where I can barely move my arm the next day.

I use lacquer thinner to thin my epoxy (Thread Master), been using it for over 15 years with no issues.

I've already directed Dwight towards Loop Canada or Troutfitters. I have heard nothing but good things about the current incarnation of Loop Canada so hopefully they can help him out, The photos he sent me lead me to believe this is a lack of epoxy coverage on the glue up allowing a hinge point at the junction between the grip and seat.

trying to decipher your guy's code is a real payne.

I've used Power-Pro and Spider Wire but now I exclusively use Beadalon wire from Micheals, Bronze in 0.38mm is my go to, 60ft spool is something like $8.

CDone,
Don't know if this would be helpful, but you might want to check out "Fishpond Sushi Roll" lfy holders. See http://www.caddisflyshop.com/fishpond-sushi-roll.html

That looks great Jay, don't think it will fit in my sling bag though. Would be a great boat box thats for sure.

I've made a few from leftover air nailer boxes. These are the cases the guns came in.. I scuffed the inside up with a wire wheel and then glued foam in each side. Result was a small suitcase that was maybe 3 1/2" to 4 " thick and could hold a ton of big pike flies. I hang the flies in the foam so the heads point towards the handle so when I pick it up they don't mix up. Works very well. You can find the boxes on kijijji or I'm sure I have a left over one I can donate.
Thanks Dave, really looking for something that will fit in my sling bag though, as most of my pike fishing tends to be walk and wade.
I currently have some GLoomis compartment fly boxes that I put all my Intruder/Hobo/Tubflies in for steelheading, guess thats always an option but I don't like the way they tangle if you have more than one fly per compartment.
Guess i should have mentioned that I'm also tying tube flies for pike so the slotted foam boxes won't work for them. Googling around today and I came across some guys using leader wallets, so i guess thats an option as well.

So started my pike fly tying early this winter and realized after tying a dozen or so articulated flies that i don't have any boxes to keep them in. Does anyone have any suggestions for applicable boxes? Preferably something that will keep the flies from getting all tangled (one of my pet peeves with the boxes I have now and using craft fur/fox fur ) and fit in my sling bag.
Thanks

Cork ring replacement on rod
in Ask the Pros
Posted
you`ll want to use epoxy as you need to make sure there is adhesion to the blank as well as the rings on either side. Personally I would probably replace the ring above and below also just in case water has gotten into the glue. As Lornce says dry fit a ring, then split using a fine toothed saw or even better a razor blade then take a round file and enlarge the inner hole to match the diameter of the blank, a little larger is fine as the epoxy will fill the gaps. Apply epoxy (I use 30 minute epoxy) liberally to all surfaces. Fit the 2 halves and use tape or something else to hold the cork in place (I use zip ties). Probably the hardest thing about this type of repair is getting the new ring turned down to the size of the existing cork, a cork lathe ,akes quick work of it but you can do it by hand as well just takes longer.
