Also, I would like to apologize for the lack of updates over the past 2 months - I have been quite busy working on various video and web design projects, and as a result, had little time to update the site. I will do my best to upload shows and flies at least twice a month going forward. We are planning on filming some new "Web Exclusive" flies in January, so look for those in the new year!
I'm happy to report that YouTube has removed my video length limit, meaning I can upload shows as 1 clip now (instead of 3 parts). This will make uploading shows faster and easier, and makes for a better viewing experience. I will continue to separate the flies from the episodes, so they can be found and watched quickly.

This week, Grant is fishing a tributary of the Elk River, near Fernie in the East Kootenays of British Columbia, Canada. He is fishing with, and being guided by Kelly Laatsch of St. Mary Angler Fly Fishing. They are fishing for a beautiful strain of wild native westslope cutthroat trout, on a 4x4 access only section of the river. On the bench, Don ties up the Cutthroat Candy fly.

This week, Don, Dale and some friends headed up to Terrace, British Columbia to fish for steelhead. Last night they sent me a clip of Dale landing a 7 pound steelhead on the Skeena River. You will be able to watch the entire trip when it's edited for next season.

On this Quick Tip, Brian Chan talks about the importance of having a fish finder when fishing lakes, especially for finding the depth. Don shows a less accurate but more affordable way to achieve the same results, using a pair of forceps.

On this Quick Tip, Brian Chan demonstrates how to tie a non-slip loop knot. This knot allows your flies to pivot, especially useful when chironomid fishing - either hanging under an indicator, or on a wet line when your stripping them, providing a lot more action to the fly.

So the world cup is about to begin, and as a true fan of the game I intend to watch every single game of the entire tournament. Of course due to work and other reasons, I will not be able to watch the games live. I have a DVD player / recorder with a hard drive (enough to record many games) I just realized however, that for whatever reason CBC does not come up on the list of stations I can record (it is the ONLY station that is not listed). Would anyone here know why this is? as it stands right now, my only option is to record the games in french, the french station will be carrying the entire worldcup as well.
Thanks for any input
I'm not sure how CBC would be able to prevent you from recording its channel if you are using a stand-alone DVD player / recorder. Maybe the signal is flagged with something that tells the DVD player not to record, however I doubt that you would not be able to see the channel in the first place. They don't prevent PVR's from recording so I doubt they'd stop other devices, my guess would be it's either a glitch, or the guide hasn't updated etc.

Can anyone refer a good website builder. I need a small (4-5) page, some what simple web page built. Any help would be appreciated.
PK
Personally I use a platform called Squarespace to build all of my sites (www.squarespace.com). You should have at least a basic understanding of html to use that, however, but there is a free, no credit-card required trial that you can use to test it out.
An alternative to that (and free I believe) would be Wordpress (www.wordpress.org) - similar, not as intuitive / easy to make it not look like a blog, but if a blog will suit your needs then its pretty decent.
Another one I have no experience with, but see it advertised all the time, is Wix - I have no idea how well it works though. (www.wix.com)

Here is another web exclusive fly from Sport Fishing On The Fly host Don Freschi. This video is available in YouTube HD.

Here is another website exclusive On The Bench, hosted by Don Freschi. In this video, Don ties up a personal chironomid pattern of his, called Don's Gunslinger Chironomid. This versatile fly can be tied on size 8 - 16 hooks, and uses a metallic flashabou for the body. Another element that really sets the fly off is the fabric paint that represents the wing buds.
The video above is using a new feature on the site called Apture, and offers related videos from within the site. We are testing this feature and as usual, we always look forward to your feedback, comments and suggestions.

Hey everyone - Just a heads up, I am testing a new feature I have integrated into the site called Apture. You will notice it when you scroll down a bit on any page, the blue bar at the top is this feature in action. It does a few cool things, like offer various share buttons, and keeps the website logo always visible - but the coolest features are the search bar, and highlighting text search.
The search box will search various reputable sites for information, and display everything on top of this site (rather than forcing users to leave the site). The other cool thing is if you highlight any text, a search button appears. Hit it, and it will again bring up relevant information and display it on top of this site. Its a bit hard to explain so just give it a try.
I have also created a Facebook Page for Sport Fishing On The Fly. I will always post updates to the website on there (like when I post new videos) so if you live on Facebook, just "Like" the SFOTF page and easily stay up to date with the show.
If you experience any problems with the site or with this new feature (Apture), please post a comment on this entry or email kstanchuk@gmail.com
Thanks for visiting the site.
