  3. Howdy, i was wondering if anyone could tell me about camping in the Watervalley area, i been camping there but not for a real long time, is there still a campground just west of the town, not the one in town or i want to go to Catr creek when the fishing is open, is the road to cat creek good for i have a mini van?

  5. So day #1 of my bow life: Was going down to the glenmore, but instead found myself at Hull's wood by 6 in the morning, why does the burnmeads open at 8 crazy, but anyway got all suited up and headed out, lot's of first time issue's, i used the leader that came with my tfo package, will be upgrading and boy did i have some crazy tangles and weird tackle problems and snags and almost falling in a couple of times, but then it happened, will fishing the slack water on eother side of a nice riffle just down from the boat lauch, i hooked and caught a beautiful rainbow, not sure how i did it, but now i'm really hooked, it was very cool. Going to try thursday morning in front of the Zoo, has anyone had any luck there?WJ
  6. Howdy, so wednesday is the big day, got my waders, boot's, week off, flies, new Tf0 6wt and a wife that is letting me go due to wanting to leave the house by 5:00.. I going to be nymphing the bow for the first time and am thinking of probing around the glenmore bridge and south of that. As it is my first time out, it will be more about learning then catching, but it all sounds like a lot of fun.. Two questions 1. i was going to nymph the side of small riffles with a Sjw and a dark stoneflies nymph, does that sound good? 2. there is a little river inlet about 1000 yards from the brigde is that tresspassing and can i go along and fish in there too? 3. sorry more than 2 but is all of the construction along there screwing up the fishing, should i go some where else, i trying to find a place fairly void of people because of the show i might put on? i am a rank amateur and am ready to learn the bow, do i have a chance of hooking into something there? WJ
  7. I have a couple questions for the masses, you all seem like really helpful kind of folk and i was wondering if i could ask what does one use early spring lake (allison creek) early in may there? I read every book and all good post on this website and have spent sometime this winter tying some good and bad and okay flies. But i have hit the wall and am running out of fun things to tie for my trip/ any fun suggestion would be cool. Also i know there are know scuds in the yet, i think i will get on that part this weekend, but what is everbody goto lake spring pattern... And i tried fo rthe last hour to post a picture with the post, but no luck, how the hell does one do that?
  8. Howdy, wife is really good and could talk her into it, but depends on the task...and reward(maybe let a new bow river guy have some hint's)
  9. Recent tattoo done by my sister in-law. Fishing and women - the best of both worlds!
  10. Here is how it all went down, One fine morning i went to work and got a unexpected Xmas Bonus and to bet it all it was alot more than i thought i was going to get but didnt think i was going to get(strange work game) Anyway that same day i came home with a 4wt sage lauch 8foot and a tioga reel. I think this is a very big step up for me. You guy's are great with all of youre helping ways. How did i do on the choices? Also the choices of fly line is the next question i was hopping to get some input on, i know i could search and see, but it makes me feel good the people are reading this for i am not the most skilled typer...Also found out it's a crime to practise casting in the living room, and $300 plus dollars at the fly store means a trip to the mall no bitching and no time constraints.. go figure 1.5 hours in ZARA waiting.. it was neat...
  11. Howdy, the line is not included, just a rod and reel i am looking for..that sounds weird. Is tfo a good brand?
  12. Howdy, I think i'm ready to move up from the low end and take the next step and buy a nice 3wt or 4wt for i hope to be doing a lot of smaller stream fishing this year..(fingers crossed) My question is what is the next step? right now all i have is 6wt that i got from wholesale, not bad, but i dont no better. Anyone know what's a good 3/4wt combo for around $300 dollar that my wife can get me for Xmas.. I've been to all of the stores in calgary and have a good idea, but someone other than the sales would be nice... wj
  13. Hi there, i was wondering if i could ask a couple of questions(hope the answer is YES). I've come to the conclusion that i need My First pair of waders, don't know where to start and price is somewhat, but not really a issue.. also i am a big man of 6'8 and size 14 shoe size and that seems to be a problem at most stores..Any help would be cool and rewarded one day on the river....
