  1. Sigvaris has a great compression sock for fishing and hunting. It is made with Marino wool and is available in 2 thicknesses. You need to be measured to be sure of a good fit, if they don’t measure calf circumference, ankle circumference , lower leg length and shoe size they are not truly medical grade compression socks. Also with a prescription you may have coverage under your medical insurance plan. The socks should roughly cost $125 per pair

  2. My wife and kids purchased me and a buddy a guided float through country pleasures. We are both from lethbridge so our normal rivers are the crow, waterton, castle, **.****'* , and everything just north of the pass. We are both experienced flyfishers but not what I would consider experts! We are also Bow River virgins. We are willing to fish nymphs or streamers if needed but would much rather fish drys. I am looking for some info to help us make the most of our trip.

    1) when would you consider the best dates of the summer for us to schedule our trip?

    2) I have 9' z's in 4-6 should I be trying to borrow a 7 or a longer rod for the trip?

    3) any info on which guide I should request?

    4) there site doesn't mention if they supply flies, should I take my own? Or am I expected to buy what ever they suggest?

    5) if given the option should I request what stretch to fish?

If you can answer any or all of my questions or have any other great advice that would be great.

    Thanks wayne

  3. I am looking for some input based on personal experience to help me pick my new camera. my previous one was the pentax optio w60 which is no longer working!

I have narrowed the search down to either the Olympus TG-2, Nikon AW120 or the Panasonic lumix DMC-TS5 I have also considered the gopro hero 3+ black but it is big step up in price and I am not sure how much video I would do, it would mostly be for stills. The camera will be used for fishing, camping and vacations. so something with good all around pic quality would be great. I am interested in hearing pros and cons about any of the cameras I have listed.

    thanks Wayne

  4. I am due to get a new phone and am undecided on which phone to get.

I am not looking for someone to tell me which one is the best, I know they are both great phones.

Is what I am looking for is someone who has had a iphone and went to a android, Or the other way around. Are you happy with your choice? Are you going to switch back? Any pros or cons. Any info based on personal experiences are welcome

    Thanks wayne

  5. The guy that was at the show was awesome. However, I had a seat (i assume the back bars broke on yours wayne) and sidebag issue in October, and called and emailed (fully ignored on email) multiple times before it was late January and they were at the show to get it dealt with.

They also over charged my CC, which instead of just reversing the charge, he took about 3 months and about 10 phone calls to send me a cheque. Lots of 'cheque is in the mail', when obviously it was not.

Guess after working in retail, so I'm particularly not impressed. Guess it speaks to the boat once you finally get one....

The reinforcement plastic bars popped out of the top of the seat, not a big deal as I have a industrial sewing machine at work so I was able to fix it. So now I have a spare seat.

  6. It sounds like I am the only one with a good experience! I ordered my assault, upgraded oars, Scotty anchor mount, depth charge anchor and received my complete shipment within 3 weeks.

I did have a problem with the upgraded seat that I received with the boat but when I mentioned this at the Calgary expo I was told they were aware of the issue with the eva seat and took my contact info and sent me out a replacement seat at no cost to me.

  7. I'm in the market for a new net. (Fathers day) I really like the idea of the new clear nets any pros or cons I should be considering? Has anyone made the switch then regretted it? If so why? Any other info that would make my decision would be helpful, I'm in Lethbridge and will need to order from one of the shops in Calgary as I refuse to give wholesale down here my business. I'm looking for something big enough for a mid 20's fish but small enough to comfortably bushwhack with it attached to my vest.

    Thanks wayne

  8. Thanks for the suggestions. I am considering buying an 8' fish cat cougar which sits much lower in the water and would allow some control with fins. The other boat would be a fish cat 9 ir. It would be my first pontoon and boat to float the bow so I wanted to make sure I had a safe, stable boat that I could control well. I've heard great things about those scadden boats but its a bit above my price I think.

I had the fish cat cougar before I sold it to purchase my scadden, I sold it through the forum to Murray and I know he floats the bow quite a bit. You may want to get some feedback from him on how well it performs as I only ever used it on lakes.

  9. I have a scadden Assault which is 8.5' it is very maneuverable and you can navigate most water just with the fins, more time fishing less time rowing. This is a pic of my boat set up for Stillwater, it looses a bunch of the extras for flowing water! It has a fairly aggressive rocker , kind of hard to tell in the pic with the weight of the trolling motor and deep cycle battery.

814814e1764e610ce101e353de5f34f4.jpgIf your primary use will be flowing water find a toon with a good rocker to the toons this makes it more responsive and easier to navigate the stream. The only reason I would go with a longer toon would be if you are a fairly large guy (250lbs+) or you are planning on overnight trips and need the extra room/capacity for packing gear. A larger toon may also be beneficial if you plan on floating water that is rated for class 3 or higher, the added length and width can be a advantage here as we'll.

  10. Water masters are very nice boats. They are extremely stable in still-waters because of how much of the boat contacts the water, but for the same reason they are not as maneuverable or as fast to row as the scadden boats because they lack the front and back rocker.

If your looking for something to float the bow or fish lakes it would be a great boat, if your looking for something that you can challenge some whitewater there are better options in my opinion.
