  1. Sorry to say my friend who works at Russells told me they are shutting down the store on Dec. 28th. Everything they sell at Wholesale Sports will be moved and the rest of the inventory is already marked down 25%. I will miss my visits to Russells. Rick.

moved where to...is there another store the contents are going to?...........and does that include the hunting ware as well.....Wolfie

I use a pattern that has a tan foam shell back, a pearl crystal chenile body and rubber legs tied in perpendicular to the hook shank about midway down the hook. I use a black fine tipped sharpy to make the chevrons on the back, and fabric paint or a red sharpy to do the eyes. I've tried almost every boatman variation I could find and this is the one that has worked the best for me.

..using your idea, this is what I came up with, however..looks like I should get myself some sharpies......huh?...........Wolfie

..can you post a pic of Ur tie?..............Wolfie

  4. I use this one exclusively..Goose wing back, peacock herl body with a silver mylar tag and black goose biots for legs. I use "hard as nails" to coat the back. I "fish" the boatman with a dry line ...there is no need to have any other variations in your flybox..I was introduced to this pattern at Police Outpost Lake in 1980 and have used it successfully in every lake I have fished in since then.

..you said...'lake'..so how does that pattern hold up to the Bow..has it been successful there as well?..............Wolfie

  6. Jack,

I find it odd that you disable your signature for this thread. Don't want people to associate you slamming another rod company, while working for another?

    Wierd

my, my...such a petty childish statement not even pertaining to the content of this thread..and who is 'slamming' a rod company..boy u should read before revealing your dislike about someone..in either as a joke or a personal shot..

..and it is to my understanding that this.."MSRP", crap, has been going on when most of you were in diapers, and that was because some American company took some poor slob in a law suite...thus they started their Rep...and yes ..Sage has and will use all of their power to limit the number of little stores that do not use their inferior American product as long as they can and will suck in so many of other countries in believing that their products are ..superior..and a prime example is in here , the number of ppl who believe that to own a Sage products gives them the right to spout off about other higher quality products...I've said this over 30 years ago..and will continue to say it till whenever..this rod manufacture will never be the all important one in the world of Fishing Products, for there are many higher quality rods built yesterday as it is today that will not allow that to happen......of course this is my opinion, which I personally am stead fast with.............Wolfie

  7. Did you know...to be a 'fisherman' in Germany, you must 'first,' attend a fishing course, which is mandatory, then to fish waters , the cost of licensing in Germany is $1000.00 per year..basically because most of the waters are privately owned..........

as far as 'guides' are concern, considering they have a tremendous responsibility on their hands, namely 'clients', it should be made mandatory for all to take and hold certain health/safety first aide courses, as well as having a recognized legit business which requires a business license of sort, and in most cases those businesses should be 'Limited', to protect the guides of any personal financial

    loss.........Wolfie

  9. Well did you ask him this.........?

could someone please tell me the damage that occurs when a large fish is picked up out of the water with one hand by the gill
.........the pain would be close to getting hung by ur member...and boy, I thought you were a rocket scientist...............Wolfie

  10. thanks wolfie but i honestly need something in writing that specifically says handling a fish by the gills will kill it. or maybe someone has a first hand experience? c'mon people many fishes lives are at stake!

I don't see Ur point in regards to something in writing...print it off m8 or look on Google for more info...besides..I'm a registered biological technician in Ichthyology and Herpetology...Fish and Reptiles..is that proof enough for u as someone with first hand experience?..........Wolfie

  11. could someone please tell me the damage that occurs when a large fish is picked up out of the water with one hand by the gill? i have a friend who doesn't believe me that he's probably killing the fish. something from a biologist or something comparable that i could forward to him may help.

    thanks

Well you ask him how would he feel if he was "hung" by his sexual member...holding a fish by it's gill plate, sticking one's fingers into it gills will Kill the fish..for this is it's breathing appendage, "External Lungs", read.... http://www.biology-resources.com/fish-01.html ....................................Wolfie

  12. toss streamers dude! green and white clouser will work as a imitaion.... or like u said just start chuckin gear! if u want teh easy way out get a centre pin and lob nymphs under a dink float! or crank raps! i love the challenge with teh cast itself!!!!! somedays its not the flyguys day! other days it is!!!!

a small hijack of this thread...sorry!

Maxie,Maxie,Maxie....what a nasty statement coming from a friend...hey Bro..u know I center pin, and can catch tons of fish by this old method, in combination using the Czech nymph style..with either an indicator or a proper English float..it is an Art just like your method of 'spey casting', or just with the Art of 'fly casting'...so be nice my young friend or I'll put Nikita on you..th_YOyCuR3lt35oPVTy1ZeKw6puQs.gif..[who will probally cuddle up to you].

..used a certain streamer yesterday on the water which also was the last day and I thank the 'Fish God', for my thrilling moment..a over zealous 24" hooked male Brown...and all I have to say to that was..'persistence paid off, cause I'm not fluent in the Art of streamer fishing myself!...............................Wolfie

  13. It's a back and forth jabbing by friends. Wolfie is originally from "Fantasy Island"(Vancouver Island) so us far-superior "Mainlanders" are honour-bound to flog them every now and then. :)

"flog"..you say..lol-2.gif...only difference between you and me Jack is the 'Gods above pee on you guys more than me'...th_sA9hh8wbBppa74d8EKnVi4gc0M.gif...........................Wolfie

.............So...are you going to post some of the other flies or not...th_000200c15us.gif

  14. Pretty sure he is just giving some advice Wolfie, as his post says if you are targeting coho use those flies. Im sure your tie is the best in the world and works great on everything from salmon to tiger fish to permit cuz its tied by you, mainlander. Your one weird fella ill give ya that much.

Boy I fooled you...huh..Calgarian..th_lmbo-1.gif...I just made that fly to suit the fishing here ..but that tie is quite 'hot and common in BC', with the other colours I suggested..for 'all species', but no worries m8...how would you know that..no harm done...............Wolfie
