love the sign off dude hhahah that sounds like something Ted Nugent would say hahha Check out the shoes, they are really awesome, no more bulky and awkward wading/hiking long distances with boots. Going up and down log jams, cliffs and rockslides are way easier now.

Hi guys I did an earlier post about what guys like best for wet wading. I went out and bought some Simms riprap wading shoes, and I just want to say for those fellows that like to hike long distances into mountain streams where the rocks aren't too slippery, they are awesome! They are much less cumbersome than wearing wading boots, light weight, dry quick, and the soles are Vibram, so they handle freestone rocks way better. No issues with rocks getting in, they fit too snug for that. They are better for hiking too than boots. I'm not sure about how they would do on the bow, with all the slimey rocks, but in the mts ...amazing Some guys were wondering about sizing, I can wear 10.5 to 11 street shoe, so after reading some posts I ordered the size 11 with the size 11 MEC neoprene sock, and it fit like a glove. Hey fellas I was hoping to get some ideas on summer wading shoes... for wet wading. I was thinking of the Simms streamtread sandals, but fish tales couldn't get them in, and then I started wondering if just a standard water shoe might work just fine (if I could get a thick enough sole on it), on a five-day float down the bow. Has anyone found a thick soled water shoe that does well on the rocks? I found my flats boots I bought to fit into my forcefins, had too soft of a soul, and the feet took a pounding after a while last summer. Standard wading boots don't fit into the forcefins I have, or I'd probably just get a neoprene sock. thanks a bunch Adam

Thanks for the advice toolman, I like the feel of the bvk, and I think I may go in that direction after doing some more homework; I hear ya about the wind and trying to cast accurately a long distance to a riser, and I think the fast action would help, it is good to know from everyone, really appreciate it, that in general the line does not "slap on the water" more with faster actions; It sounds like with practise you can learn how to cast softly with them no problem; Thanks a tonne guys!

It sounds like you feel casting streamers is more sophisticated than nymphing where in this white-collar world then do you put your hardhat for hucking, chucking, and ducking half an ounce of lead flying roughshot through the air? let's be honest the only really pretty casting comes with dry flies, even when the experts do it. I am just giving you a hard time, and trying to keep you honest, while having a laugh. I think all in all, we need to keep in mind that the sport is about just having fun by whatever means you choose to have fun with I nymph because it works, but love dryfly and streamer fishing as well, and usually do all 3 with a hardhat and facemask on

Thanks for the reply man out of the 3 rods, I like the feel of the BvK the best, hands down. Lightweight, firm, and well-balanced (I sound like I am talking about one of those chicks from Game of thrones haha) So do you find that when you cast dry flies in flat water that there is more of an impact on the water with the faster action of the BvK, (and potentially scaring more trout) or is this just hearsay? Hi guys I am looking to buy a 4wt, 4 pc (bow river dries, mt cutties on dries and small streamers and nymphing, and I can't decide b/w a TFO finesse, bvk or pro series 2. They all have different actions, and I've heard everything from bvk is good all around to, don't fish it for dries etc I have a signature series 2 pc, and really like it (except for in heavy winds, a little floppy), but want a 4 pc for the mts. The finesse is 3 inches shorter than the regular eight-foot in 4 wt that TFO makes on other models, would this really affect casting distance that much? What do you guys think? Thanks a bunch Adam

If you fish enough, you'll probably also find it is hard to keep up with number of flies you need by tying them all. I tend to buy a lot of the basic patterns and tie the flies that are either really quick (acetate worms and brassies) to save money, or are unique such as foam green drakes, and many of my bulltrout flies.

It was awesome!! I wish I coulda got a pic to share with you guys, but I can't complain, it was one of the coolest mountain adventures I've had fishing yet! I hope everyone gets a chance to have something like that happen soon!

hi guys I'm sure we've all had a big bullie nail a whitie or a cuttie that you were bringing in, but they usually let go.... Well this was a first, and pretty cool! I hooked a 13-14" whitie on a nymph in a tailout, and a 26" bull came along and grabbed it, and swallowed 1/2 of it tail first. There were no hooks in the bull as this was my last fly and it was in the whities mouth, 7" away from the bull! He then went through the riffle into the next pool, and I had tension on him the whole time. I could still see the big 'ol whitie sticking out of his yap, but he wouldn't let go!! I climbed over some rocks while reeling like a madman, wanting to try to get him to either spit it, or to land him if my fly was in his mouth. He still stayed in this small, deep pool and would NOT let go! I think then he got a little tired from his recent trip to the next pool and trying to play tug of war with this whitefish and me, so he came in quickly once I got alongside the pool. I picked him up horizontally to take a look at him, and what a sight... I've never seen this before. He was still really energetic, just extremely focused on this whitefish he thought was really close to being his food for the day. He reminded me of the look my dog gets in his eye when I give him a bone.....mine!!! hhahaha I held him in the water and tried to reach for my camera, as I needed a pic of 7" of whitefish sticking out of a bull's mouth, but he then spit the whitie at me, and he thrashed back in. He had lots of energy still, this whole thing happened in 5 minutes or so. He was never hooked, and the crazy part is when I inspected the whitie, no broken scales. I put the whitie back to see if he'd make it, but he was stunned to say the least, and just swam over to a rock to rest, hope the whitie makes it, but what a cool and unique thing to land a bull without a hook! I think instead of worrying about what position the eyes are in (seems to me like a way just to prove if we did good or not), let's focus on doing no or min. harm in the first place. I think we should be minimizing harm by the best methods we feel there are, some of our practises may be more important than others, but why take the chance... 1/Bring in a fish as quick as possible 2/keep him (or Ms fish) in the water, don't drag or bring them onto land/boat 3/don't squeeze them 4/quickly lift him up horizontally under the belly to take a pic (try not to take pix of all your fish, I'll go weeks between pix) or a quick look, then give them time to revive putting one hand on the tail, and one gently under the belly, letting them decide when to swim away; If you must take more than one pic, put them back in the water between pictures 5/Most of the time for small fish that were landed quick ya just reach down with some forceps, and they are gone, they don't even let ya release them just my thoughts on what I try to do....I think the worst thing for the fish that I see out there has to be the dragging of them up onto shore, and the time that they are out of the water; Most of the protective slime gets wiped off, and they have no oxygen being on the stream bank; I see new flyfishers who are excited about their catch do this often, it's not just gear chuckers I hope everyone gets a good'r this WE and gets him back in there for the next guy ! yeah I love the AB system, in NB where I'm from the moose hunt is like our goat draw (with quite a few more tags), but it might take 30 yrs to draw one! The hunt is only 3 days too when ya finally do draw one!

We are looking at SW of Calgary in 406, and a 10 day hunt. Please respond if interested. You will need to be able to... -carry 100 lbs on your back for possibly a few km -have a pack frame intended for carrying meat -be not too bear afraid/be comfortable field dressing and carrying game in the backcountry -be a laid back, not too anal person, we wanna have fun -be well practised with shooting a bow, we don't want to be searching for animals that are poorly shot if possible only serious inquiries wanted, I don't care if you are just thinking about it. all the best Adam

Hi great pic man! got in some great deer hunting, took 2. Missed a few mulies in bow season, was calling in a bull moose, and stalked another, saw wolves griz, coyotes, and elk (the elk were just outside of my hunt area on pr land, it was tooth wrenching) Even got grouse with the bow It was a great season What size elk did ya get man?
