  1. You may want to take a look at Redington's new 5110-4 DUALLY or 6110-4 DUALLY. Great little rod for you buck.
  2. good morning, Rio would like to thank everyone that came out and participated in the RIO 5wt Distance Competition. I would like to congratulate the three winners who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The winning cast can in at 85ft 6inches, by Steve Turanyik. Second place cast was 83ft 8 inches by David Sojer and third by Owen Liske at 80ft 2inches. All three winners received a free RIO fly line. Rio would like thank Dave from Fish Tales Fly Shop for hosting this years fun event. Ruben RIO Products
  3. a scandi has a longer front taper with the balance of the weight at the backend of the line. This help to load the rod and focuses the weight at the top of your D loop. by adding the two lines, your weight is allover the place. the line will hing aswell. take a look at the Rio Spey site and look at undersanding spey lines. have a good one, Fishnut1
  4. I would cast the rod at one of the shops. Ask to try it with a 6wt and a 7wt line. Try it first with a 6wt line, see how it feels. If you think that the rod is a little to fast, try a 7 wt line. The 7 wt line will load the road with less line out. With more than 25ft of line out, it will slow the action down and load the rod deeper. fishnut1
  5. Rio will have a head wallet available in the fall. It will hold 12 heads and has room for additional inserts. fishnut1
  6. here is some more information on the Rio's mow tips. fisnut1
  7. Jack, All shops carry a product that will bring in sales. It is up to the individual shop owner to choose what they want to carry and not a manufacturing company. If a product line is replaced, it could be for many different reasons.
  8. I do not agree with you on what the tip costs. Sage rods are made in the US. Each rod touches about 40 pairs of hands. The tips start as sheet graphite and have to be rolled, sanded, a finish added, backed, guides placed and wrapped. Each piece is custom fit to the section that you send in. Warranties are time consuming and costly. if you add the material and labour, it cost the US rod companies far more than what you pay. A rod tip that is made off shore can cost less as you stated, due to the labour costs. That is not the case with any major US rod company.
