  1. Just imagine you owned a fly shop and what your cost would be, leaseing space, city business tax, phone, internet, staff, benefits, utilititys, vech-driftboat, import duties, advertising and the list goes on. These flys are the fly shops gravy, but tying your own is not cheap, beleave me i know. But what it comes down too is suporting local business, and the industry itself.
  2. Has a resident of the cochrane area i can tell you that there's allot of great fishing opportunitys in this area and all it takes is a great attitude and get out and have fun. But it's so important to know the basics, take a into course from any of the local flyshops, there about $150.00 bucks but money well spent with the knowledge gained. Mike @ country pleasures has a great program and so do many other local shops in the calgary area and even the university of calgary has a program. If u need further help, pm me.
  3. Change your setup often, if things are not working. Vary the depth, weight, and watch the water, learn were fish feed and what the are feeding on, flip stones, screen the water, and observe the banks and shoreline for potintial trout food. If all else, ask??????????? others on the river.
  4. Anyone have any sugestions for a great place to fly fish for pike here in southern ab?? PM me the details.
  5. Excessive stocking does not work to build sustainable a fishery. But the real reason the alberta government stocks these ponds and lakes is to give people who really don't have alot of exposure to the outdoors access to these areas for simple enjoyment. These lakes are overstocked to allow anglers with little experience the opportunity to catch fish. These lakes cannot sustain the large numbers of fish dumped into these small ecosystems. I think i would rather these guys go to these lakes instead of the bow or other local river systems.

  8. Would anyone have detailed intructions on places between banff-canmore that are decent for walking and wading fly-fishing? I just moved to cochrane and looking for new palces to fish north on the bow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
