Korkers all the way!

I generally fish alone and hunt alone and this is one thing the wife insists on me getting. They are easy to pack and reliable. And like FFW says the piece of mind is much better than getting ripped a new one from coming home late from a day of fishing/hunting that you just can't pull away from.
This is what my 911 message says...
My Dogs name is Fischer, he is big and black, a German Shepherd, he is very friendly, but loves me...
He may not be with me all the time but..
If you see him tell him it is OK, and ask were is Ray...
Plse rescue him also
If you cannot get to me, rescue him ..
You can modify it to say what ever you need for the situation, I will change mine when I hunt in the fall..

Anyone have any experience with Spot GPS locators? How reliable are they? Looks like a good idea if you fish alone in remote areas, but I'm not sure how the coverage is in Alberta.
I have been using mine since last Christmas and it is great.. Provides a great deal of POM, Piece of Mind .
The coverage is perfect here in Alberta, if you can see the sky then you can get a signal out.. I have fished in heavy snow and cloud cover and in canyons, and no prob..
I even take it with me for road trips etc..
Do not hesitate get one...
It is Satellite not Cell so there should be no dead spots..
It does what it says it can do, and is easy to set up..

My single buddies in the Army would go on Pig hunts... basically score with the ugliest girl in the bar, Legion, beach etc...
But would not like it when I pointed out that there is an ugly girl out there right now sitting with her GF's saying " look at the hunk/Jock/ Stud/troop, I scored this weekend/last night"..
PS - I have been married since the 7th week( Feb 1983), of Basic training, to my childhood sweet heart..

Nature sure is cruel and down right violent at times there is no doubt about that. Sometimes it doesn't even make sense. Zoos don't put seals in with polar bears or zebra in with lions. It just makes sense. That's all that didn't sit well with me, it didn't make sense. I just wanted to see other peoples thoughts on it. Thanks for the responses guys.
I figure we start trucking in Seals and putting in all the bears enclosures and leaving them where bears of all types can find them... National figure heads also...
My views on seals are well Known to some.. under used food source for those in need... send them to the pet food plants, not fish... and some countries ...
talk about humans screwing up things..
send them to PETA so they can slaughter them like they did to the Dogs and Cats in their care...... Save my tax dollars..

I use the Strap vest to cover my man boobs...
Actually I've really liked the Filson Strap Vest for the last few years.

I'm also tying to figure out a good way to attach my Mclean's net.
Yur just bragging about your Net...
I use a Back Pac.. I can drop it and fish a section of the river and pic it up later, I have a lanyard, that I attach a single Fly box when I drop the pac..
I carry my survival kit and extra fly boxes and lunch in it and a small Micky of good whiskey..need to find some good cigars to load up on ..

A Saskatchewanian, an Albertan and a Texan were debating who had the best memory.
The dude from Saskatchewan claimed, "I remember my first day of kindergarten."
The Albertan boasted, "I remember speaking my first word!"
The Texan exclaimed, "I remember going to the senior prom with my father and coming home with my mother!"
But did the Texan remember his mom spitting or swallowing .....

Skinny little white guy goes into an elevator, looks up and sees this HUGE black guy standing next to him.
The big guy sees the little guy staring at him, looks down and says: "7 feet tall, 350 pounds, 20 inch private, 3 pound testicles, Turner Brown."
The little guy faints and falls to the floor.
The big guy kneels down and brings him to, shaking him. The big guy says: "What's wrong with you?"
In a weak voice the little guy says, "What EXACTLY did you say to me?"
The big dude says: "I saw your curious look and figured I'd just give you the answers to the questions everyone always asks me..... I'm 7 feet tall, I weigh 350 pounds, I have a 20 inch private, my testicles weigh 3 pounds each and my name is Turner Brown."
The small guy says:
"Turner Brown?!... Sweet Jesus, I thought you said, "Turn around."

SFTE
Not sure what this means...Taco plse enlighten me!

Well I called. The explanation:
"The pike in the tank likes to take a swipe here and there at the trout. That's what happens in nature so that's what happens in the tank to reflect nature and the local fish. That's how it is in the local rivers and lakes so we what to reflect the natural settings. So it's ok."
Hmm...natural settings have much more opportunities for the fish to escape as well as more natural and abundant features for fish to survive (cover, structure, etc.) and not to mention a tank IS NOT NATURAL. I didn't speak directly with the tank overseer but I did leave my name and number. I completely understand having a display if the fish are well taken care as well as their wellbeing but I fail to see the logic in comparing a tank with natural setting. It's like putting a cat in a room full of mice. Sure it's natural for the cat to catch the mice but is it fair for the mice? Eventually all the mice will be eaten. If they were in their natural settings I'm sure some if not most would get away. I'm a bit taken aback, this just does not sit well with me.
I agree that it does not sit well .. I asked while there and they told me it happened and that they are feeding the pike more to stop it ?-------- I know the pike will get bigger and then what ...
hope this pic does not offend the Mods .. (This is not a pic of poor fish handling it’s a very educational pic and the Mods approve)

Sounds like some bad elements in the big city!!
Good to see that the local fly fishers take the resource, personally.. and no matter what their personal views are, action is taken against the evil doers, this is a good thing.
Shows that fly fishing is keeping humanity in the humans that participate in the sport... again a very good thing.. hope that it spreads to other aspects of their lives.. help an old lady, lost kid, neighbor, stranger, etc..
It would be nice if we had a massive out break of peace and niceness because of Fly Fishing... and lawfulness also..
Tight lines and eagle eyes, troops good work..

I am on a Military Pension...so reckless spending is out for me at any time..
But careful spending and saving while still in the military helped us to be at a spot were we can get what we need..
Not necessarily what we want but we have the needs and that is good enough...
Never wanted to be a millionaire any way....

I have done 65Km, with a 50lb ruck and a Carl G and 2 PRC Batteries, and the the Radio, and my webbing and ammo, and weapon and grub, and only got to look at the river as we crossed it and not on a bridge..... :$*%&:
So any thing slightly under that... but only if there is Fly Fishing at trails end..
.
truthfully now it's the body that tells me how far and most times it not that damn far....

Never Never fish drys in the spring or the summer for that matter .. edumacates the trout and they won't hit them again..
Ha Ha Ha
I always carry a few even in winter if a single fish or a small pod raises to drys and then I will tie one on and give a go... who the hell knows and then think of the story you have to tell ................... or not tell..

I take only stocked trouts, as it is illegal to take wild trout here in South Finland. When fishing abroad, I C&R.
When keep, I bunk them with a priest and cut two-three gills across (full of blood veins) and let the blood flow out... I was taught to do so, because fish keeps fresh more this way. I also remove the gut right away. After that I store it in a portable cooler.
I often steam them in oven with plenty of herbs stucked into the cavern. Place a bowl of water on the bottom to generate enough steam.
However, my favorite is home smoked trout (with little sugar or honey and alder chips). I heard you guys in Canada use different tree for smoking fish. What was that?
Here are two:
I use mesquite chips and maple syrup for trout and salmon.. some use apple or hickory chips
Damn nice stocker trout...
