Bull Trout Recipe:
1 whole Mid-Spawn Bull trout, you can tell by the spawn colors
2 cloves garlic
1 lemon
5 white onions
Cook until black, then toss away and order a pizza

Haven't tied one, but it appears to be a modified copper john/ lightning bug type pattern Try this:
Hook: your preference, my guess would be #14-18 straight shank
Tail: Pheasant tail
Abdomen: holographic tinsel
Thorax: Peacock hurl
Wingcase: Flashback
Legs: Pheasant tail
Appears to be no wire wrapping for the abdomen, but you could throw in some copper wire to add some strength.

Might have stretched or torn something. I have a list of exercises you could do for both elbow and shoulder that will help heal and strengthen. I will see if I can find them. Spent 25 years as a baseball pitcher and know all too well the damage you can do. Can lead to some issues. I can't play ball or even toss a football anymore. I also have to throw my dog's ball underhand when playing fetch (look like a loser at the park).
Don't let your kids throw curveballs and sliders before the are in their later teens.
And don't go to a spey rod!

I've had a few in the hands and back. Buried a #6 black wolly bugger into the meat of my hand. Buried as in I couldn't see the curve of the hook. My brother also hit me square in the eye this summer on my boat. Thank god I was wearing sunglasses.
Less than impressed.

It makes it even more interesting when you are in your drift boat going under the bridge and having someone cast his line into your boat. Happened to me.

Friday was one of the best days I have had fishing in a long time. The kudos go to Brett on this. He made a huge effort to come down and do this. I will say, he spent a lot more time than the half day he commited to. I learned more in a one day than I have the past 3 years. MTB was patient enough all my questions, watch me miss countless fish, hook the trees (which he always unhooked), hook myself, lose his flies, scare away big fish with my 'subtle' casts etc.
You never know what to expect when meeting up with someone, but we had some great conversations and to learn more about a great contributor to the site.
It was incredible to hook up/miss so many fish, but watching those big trout feed on the bwo was the highlight for me. Unbelievable to watch and MTB called it hours before we even started fishing it.

PS Brett even had the patience to not say anything when the subway sandwich artist unloaded a whole bottle of mayo after he requested no mayo!

It is confusing to say the least. A treble hook counts as one hook as they stem from a common shank. So you can have up to 3 trebles on one lure.
Other legal presentations would be 3 lures on one line provided no one lure had more than one hook. For example, you could have 3 spoons on the same line and all 3 had one treble hook each.
In my opnion, it seems a little excessive as well. When walleye fishing with plugs, I always found it a pain with more than one and often they would snag up on each other when casting.

Were you in a tube or on the shore? We spoke to some of the fishermen and they seemed to be doing ok. My wife absolutely loved it and we will probably go back soon.
I was one of the two in the tubes. My brother was in the one that decided to burst near the end of the day. It's worth haulin' a tube up, we had a pretty productive day.

Having a loop like a uni-knot or palomar allows nymphs to react more natrually in the water. Improved clinch doesn't allow for this. I'll use clinch for dries only.

I am out of contacts up there. It's been 5 years. Had a great guide out Kenai/Soldotna who was a school teacher, but he no longer guides. I would suggest finding a guide in that area for kings, as they are within a mile or so of the ocean and the fish are traditionally bigger on the Kenai. It's a good place to target them.
Your timing is very good for the larger kings and you can do some great fishing for sockeye at that time on your own, both on the Kenai and Russian river. If you're bringing your own gear for sockeyes and trout, I suggest min. 8 wt. I destroyed a reel on sockeyes.
Some really decent rainbows that people treat like suckers. My first fish I caught on the Russian was a 25" bow and people couldn't believe I bothered trying to land it.

I bring my pontoon boat up to these lakes. For the most part, you can easily fish from shore. Another hint. The wind is usually strong, but if you stay over night the wind almost always dies to nothing for evening and early morning. There may even be some fish over 12 inches!
There's also a grizzly sow that spends alot of time around the trail. She had some larger cubs last year that have probably left her. Never had a problem with her though.
