Good News Ladies and Gents! New Staff, New Stuff and more things exciting! CP welcomes new-ish staff member: Kevin Peterson: Many of you will recognize Kevin's face from the early ninety's when he first worked at Country Pleasures and we're pleased to welcome him back to the shop atmosphere. Kevin has been guiding the Bow for fifteen years and can't even remember when he started fly fishing. Kevin's always up to date with the latest fishing reports since he makes mutliple trips to the river each day to "keep an eye on her" and would willingly give up eating and sleeping hours in order to be fishing. You'll find Kevin a joy to talk to, and a great addition to the CP staff. CP also welcomes back Zach Southgate after a long year of studying hard: Zach comes back to CP this summer after gaining a ton of fly fishing experience over the last eight months. From fishing the Bow on all his free weekends and possibly missing a class or two (we won't tell your folks, Zach), Salmon fishing Vancouver Island, fishing Manitoba with the Canadian Youth Fishing Team and the list goes on. Now that Zach has his own truck, expect to see him in every moving and non-moving body of water in a 200 km radius of the shop. We just received a HUGE shipment of books and DVD's, some new titles, some old and others that you've never heard about. Some highlights include: Of Wind & Tides. Stu Apte. Dances with Sharks. Dave Ames. Great Fishing Lodges of North America: Fly Fishing's Finest Destinations. Paul Fersen. Lafontaine's Legacy. Al & Gretchen Beatty. Spey to Z. Topher Browne. Fly Fishing Stillwater Secrets. Jack Dennis Raising the Ghost, Dry Fly Steelheading. Fly Boys. Running Down the Man. Hustle and Fish. Rollcast Productions. Articulated Streamers. Kelly Galloup. Streamer Flies for Trophy Trout. Kelly Galloup. Tying and Fishing Stillwater. Brian Chan. Fly Patterns for Stillwaters. Phil Rowley. Tying Furled Flies-Patterns for Trout, Bass, and Steelhead. Ken Hanley. Modern Midges. Rick Takahashi. High Rollers, Fly Fishing for Giant Tarpon. Bill Bishop Jr. Clouser Flies. Bob Clouser. Angling the World, 10 Spectacular Adventures in Fly Fishing. Roy Tanami. Just a quick heads up to those of you travelling to go fishing in Cuba in the next while.... Effective May 1, 2010, legislation passed in early March come into law in Cuba stating that all foreign visitors entering Cuba must possess valid Travel Medical Insurance. Should you not have it you must purchase it from the Cubans and they'll likely be expensive. Nobody completely understands the possibilities of Capitalism like a Communist! You MUST present certificate showing you have medical insurance at immigration/customs when entering the country. Approved insurance carriers are RBC Insurance, Medjet, CIBC Insurance (that we know of right now) RBC Insurance is probably the cheapest at around $60 for a week. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE CERTIFICATE SHOWING YOU HAVE THE INSURANCE! Didn't want anyone getting caught without it!!! Have fun when you go! Country Pleasures
