  1. I can bring a Bar B Que and 3 5 gallon water jugs. I'll pick up an extra propane tank also. Ive got room for three other guys in my truck if anyone wants a ride. I live in the south end of town. I'll check back on this thread for messages re: rides and such.

Great, Murray, if you could bring your grill and those jugs full of potible water that would be great. Fish creek has turned off the water because of fear of frozen pipes. Also fill your tank and keep the recipt, I will give you money at the clean up for your expenses.

  2. I am looking for suggestions from you guys for areas on the Bow that are in need of clean up durring the Bow River Clean up. I was at poliecemans flats a few times lately, its not too bad, but has anyone on float noted any areas on the Bow in certian need of a clean up?

On a side note, we have the BBQ confirmed at poliecee mans flats, we got a tonne of saussages and side dishes, NEED SOMEONE TO BRING A BBQ and WATER JUGS, any takers?

  3. Go to T&T market, the asian grocery store, they have every fish known to man. Including some really wierd stuff like suckers. Most come frozen and are certified for human consumption so you would not have the parisite problem one of the other board members brought up. $5 at T&T and you can spend the day trying for so sportfish rather then junkfish.

  4. Good advice. It took me over 1 year of flogging the Bow before I caught a trout over 6".

I have had great days with line screaming off the reel and days when the dog has better luck catching a duck then I do a fish I the Bow. I keep comming back for more and like to think I sorta know what I am doing but good day @ polieceman is 3 fish for me. This original post was ment to be an honest "i got skunked" post. Try again tomorrow.

  5. The best thing I can tell you is to buy two books called "Alberta's Trout Highway" by Barry MItchell, and "Kananaskis Coupntry trail guide" by Gillean Daffern. Armed with these two books you will be given hundereds of ideas and details of access and fishing species present.

Nobody on the board is willing to drop their pants and post about their secret honey hole. If they did it would be filled with people the next day. Try taht Barry Mitchell Book, its really good.

  6. Here is the list so far who has confirmed will be attending the Bow River Clean up, please E-Mail me madams@twinbutteenergy.com if you name is not on the list and you would like to attend.

  7. Thanks Rich. Will add this as well.

I think I need some clearification on this post. I am a huge advocate of C&R; but from time to time a fish makes its way to my families plate. I see no shame in this and don't see where the offence comes from to censor the postings because an angler keeps a fish and is legally within the regs.

A prime example of this is the 8' sailfish I caught last month in Mexico. That specific fish was landed within the offshore regulations and did not go to waste. It was shared by my wife and I as well as a small underprivelaged village who cleaned the boat in appreciation for the meal.

The nice thing of a public board such as this is to share your catch and the pics of that trophy. I believe in C&R and believe the board should be advocates of it, but not censor legally caught fish that don't go to waste because we don't like the presentation or backdrop

    What do you think?

  8. Someone sent me a personal message wondering if anyone would be interested in a few friendly competitions for a few of the door prizes? IE most accurate cast, or furthest cast?

I will wait for feed back from you guys to see what you think, but you should bring your rod, NOT FOR FISHING DURRING THE CLEAN UP, but just incase we get creative for some of the sponsor prizes.

  9. Gone to Vegas for the week, thought I would update everyone on the clean up.

So far we have over 35 people officially registered for the event, so it should be more like 50 when its all said and done. I just got a pretty nice pair of Simms aqua stealth waders in Sz 11 for another door prize, man are they SWEET!

Also I am just sorting out a few options for the BBQ. There may be a local gentelman who ownes an acerage for down by Poliecemans flats, just waiting on confirmation we can have the BBQ there.

Spulumbos are supplying the BBQ supplys, they do Chicken, beef, and pork, IF YOU ARE A VEGITARIAN please send me a memo for what you would like to throw on the grill I can pick it up for you.

Also if you have any flyfishing, or even ice fishing gear for sale or trade, take a photo and print off the details, bring it with you to post on the "Board". I think we will have a "traders board" at the cleanup. Might be a good way to move some of that "not in use gear" what do you guys theink of that?

    ANY OTHER IDEAS?

  10. iceman - can you give a drop dead date for sign-up? My schedule bounces around, and I likely won't know for sure until next monday whether I'll be in town.

The only two reasons I need to have people confirmed is to plan teams and order the sausages from Spulumbos. You can let me know when ever. And I can order a few extra sausages for people with un certian schedules.

    Cheers

  11. This has happened to me in teh past on my Scierria large arbour reel, As this reel is a sealed disc drag unit I simply dip it in the river and strip a few lengths of line off, that usually seems to blow any dirt out of the reel with out taking th ething apart. Its easy I always try that first.

  12. Yup...Perch ain't supposed to be there. That being said we have to deal with it now. I can often catch 10-40 perch an hour. My whole house would not be big enough for a freezer and my lawn would be 2 feet higher on top of all the rotting perch.

    It does make great fertilizer.

    Cheers
