  1. You may have heard, but if not, WestJet announced today that their regional carrier, Encore will be flying twice daily to Terrace BC from Vancouver. The service starts on November 25th. Who wants to go steelheading? Bruce
  2. How was this bridge protected during the peak? Often when flooding is expected, railways place loaded cars of non toxic material to maintain weight on the bridge making it more stable to the water pressure. Then after the water goes down testing with empty rail cars move across the bridge while inspections are taking place. There are a lot of questions to be asked. Retired CPR employee
  3. Does anyone have an opinion and/or specific knowledge about what's working or not working with the Federal Fisheries Act in relation to Oil Sands development? Your replies would be much appreciated and help me with an assignment for a course I'm taking. Thanks, Bruce
  4. Do rivers like the Bow have a "turn-over" like lakes do after ice-off?
  5. Thanks for sharing. Iceland is a unbelievable fly fishing destination. I spent a summer there a long time ago that included salmon fishing on a regular basis. And I revisited the country and my relatives last summer. Iceland should be on everyone's bucket list. When I win the lottery, I'll go back and fish with a guide.
  6. Thanks to all for the advice. I'll be shopping soon and can't wait to be back in the drift boat. See you on the river. Bruce
  7. Looking to add to my collection of Bow River nymphing rods and the Cabelas CZN is on the top of my wish list for a couple of reasons. #1 - from what I've read about czech nymphing: softer action and extra length, easier on lighter tippets and easier hook sets. #2 - the extra length, 10 or 11 foot has a better reach and mend factor from the boat (is 11 feet too long?). And #3 - the price point of the Cabelas is hard to beat. I'm seriously looking at the CZN 4 wt. 10ft or 11ft. Please offer any advice or suggestions. Thanks, Bruce
  8. I've used polyester resin with fine fiberglass cloth from CDN Tire. Sanded and is smooth to the touch. If you want it to colour match add a Resin colour the same as your boat. FYI - Lemoine Hyde told me that the installed shoe is $1500 at the factory in Idaho. It's a one day job. Bruce
