  1. right on. just checkin with what the pros had to say so i know what and when to go for em. thanks maxwell.
  2. just curious. went down to oldman on the weekend and got skunked. started at hwy 22 and one other guy and i got chatting because everyone else got skunked, he was saying that the bulls were probably still in the lakes. my question since i do not regularly fish these waters is that do the bulls actually migrate back from 22 to the lake or s this a myth.
  3. there sure is dollies in alberta. look at chester lake. they are stocked i know, but they look like dollies and it is alberta
  4. well done. couldnt have said it better mysef.
  5. i am a plumber. first off, you will actually not use that much energy using the second tank. what happens is the first tank will heat the water up then it will be transferred to the second tank as you use water. so the second tank only gets hot water. it uses very minimal energy and almost un, noticable on the bill. the second thing is the new hot water tanks are so wel insulated, if you tried to waste your time insulating it i would be amazed to see even a 2 dollar saving per month. as for instantanious hot water heaters, i think they are crap. chances are you will have to resize your gas line to put it in. about 95 percent of the time that is the case. they are also garbage because the heat a low volume of water, this is done by blowing a flame over a 1/4 inch coil. so all that you have to supply your house with hot water is 1/4 inch. the nxt problem is the costof them at about 3500 usually. the other problem is that since it is 1/4 inch with calgarys really hard water they tend to scale up. i have seen some scale up completely within 2 to 3 years. they also take a bit of time for the water to heat up so you will find yourself running them for a little bit longer than normal to get the hot water. so in the end are you actually saving money or spending it. if you are looking to get a new tank put in which is good idea if it is 10 years old send me a pm and i could maybe help out
  6. absolutly, we wouldnt mind a little extra company. If you are looking for some adventure this year i am hoping to head out to some of these types of trips each weekend so we should keep in touch
  7. sorry forgot to mention to be able to realistically do it within 4 or 5 days
  8. would any of you guys know if it is realistic to do the northover ridge and then head up the south kananaskis pass and continue down back to the interlakes lot via the north kananskis pass?
  9. thanks for the help. I have been inquiring a little about the fortress trip, however from what I have been hearing the bridge over the athabasca got blown out a year or two ago and has not been rebuilt since. if anyone has any insight on that matter i ould be delighted to hear about it. as for the two trips you mentioned i am definatly going to give those some thought.
  10. the northover ridge trip from aster to three aisle was actually my first idea. however from a few reviws i have read, they have all said it was a two to three day trip max. we are looking for about 8 hours of hiking a day for the full four days and my sister was not too keen on that trip because it was such a great deal of alpine. she is really looking for the scenic foresty and waterfall kind of trip.
  11. I am planning on going on a backcountry trip this summer around mid july. I have my sister coming out from ontario and I wanted to show her a great time. I was thinking of heading into k country we were looking for about 4 to 5 days out there. As of right now i am thinking of starting towards elbow lake and hopefully finishing around evan thomas. the one concern I have is camping. Are you allowed to bivouac out here or what are the rules. does anyone know what this trail is like. my sister was looking for a lot of foresty stuff not as much alpine. if anyone has any suggestions for this or another trip to do over 4 days that would be terrific. I was thinking of about 10 km per day or thereabouts depending on difficulty of course. We were also looking for a fairly moderate to difficut trek. any help would be greatly apprciated.
  12. don, if you are willing to part with some of your cane i would definatley be interested. let me know. nick
  13. hey thanks a million guys you have helped me out a ton. I am taking all that advise and hopefully going to slowly learn and gain an understanding and take my time and tackle this. I figure i will do it right and take as long as it takes and and as long as the wallet will allow.
  14. hey guys, Jus tthrowing it out there. I have been looking around lately and am becoming fairly interested in making the feeble attempt to make my own split cane rod. have any of you guys done this before. i would be very interested in seeing it and talking it over. i figure the winter bues are setting in so i think it is a good time to look into new things to build for the next while.
