  1. To change the topic for a second. What do people have to say about fishing shows on TV that are location specific? These programs seem quite popluar. Sometimes I wonder whether there's more people watching these shows than what there are reading forums.
  2. Hey all. In case anyone is interested, Jim McLennan will be playing at the Tin Roof Grill & Bar in Blairmore, Crowsnest Pass, next Friday (Nov. 4th). Music starts at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $10.00 and are available at The Tin Roof (ph: 403-562-7664). We all know Jim as a great fly fisher, author and instructor, but he’s also pretty darn good with his guitar. If you’re in the Pass or will be heading down there next Friday, you might want to check this out. Here’s Jim playing at one of his performances earlier this year.
  3. Hey All, Below is a link to a video on Vimeo that addresses the threat of a mine on the flanks of the Livingstone Range. Local author, Sid Marty, provides much of the commentary. Several landowners also provide insight on how a mine will effect the valley and its residents. The mine could also impact the fishery in the area, as there are several small tributaries along the Livingstone Range that flow into the Crowsnest River. The video is 13 minutes in length. The photography is great and it showcases the beauty of this unique landscape very nicely. It would be a shame to see this area ruined. I understand the video will be uploaded to You Tube shortly. 4. Neil, I realize Dave Jensen said the meeting is basically being held to see whether there's enough interest to warrant licensing guides in the province. I also know I can contact Keith anytime for information. I was only saying I doubted most of the guides/outfitters in this province are even aware of this meeting. I think there's a lot of support out there among guides, and even those who don't guide, for some form of licensing, and believe it has a better chance of coming to fruition if the majority of operators climb on board at the beginning of the journey. Finding out about a meeting at the last minute, 3 or 4 days beforehand, is not the way to get off to a good start. There are no excuses for this, only reasons. While I am in favor of licensing guides in our province, I'd like to say, "Be careful of what you ask for. You just might get it."
  5. I'm wondering how many Alberta angling guides/outfitters have been contacted to inform them of this meeting? I believe most of them will only find out about this after the fact. Unfortunately, whoever is organizing this meeting is not doing a very good job informing all of the guides. I could be wrong, but I suspect most guides operating in this province do not follow this forum on a regular basis, if at all. Were emails or other forms of communication sent out to all operaters? Communication will be vital to ensure everyone gets on board.

    Goodbye

Hi Gary, Sorry to hear about your father. I'm sure you have some great memories of the times you guys spent together in the outdoors. My parents are getting up in years, too, and I hope to be able to spend as much time fishing with them as possible. They introduced me to fishing when I was 5 or 6 years old, and I'll never forget the first fish I caught with them. I don't know if the link below will work. If it doesn't, copy and paste it into your browser. It's a duet by John Denver and Lene Siel that reminds me of the great memories I have of the ones I love. Take care! http://www.imeem.com/people/JHIP5b/music/U...-med-lene-siel/ Also on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jufQm1P7lDs Trouthunter
  7. Hawg, You better think twice before offering to take someone into BC. Technically, because money is involved, it would still be considered guiding. Just giving you a heads up. -Hunter
