Cataract Surgery--anyone Had It?

Recommended Posts

So I'm going to be getting cataract surgery soon and an implant lens in each eye (separate visits). I'm only 54 and the Doc says the type I have usually occur in heavy drinkers, heavy smokers and diabetics. And I'm none of those things. Did I waste part of my life or something?

Anyone else had it done? What's your experience? Complications? Can you still see to tie flies?

My mom has to go through the same thing. Although, I have no experience in it, I have to go on hearsay. From what she was told by her doctor, her vision would actually improve due to the surgery. So, If you can tie now, you should be able to tie fine after.

My wife had it done, the lens will most likely be for distance and you will need glasses for reading and close up work. Your eye will form a film over after time and the film will need to be lazered off . My wife had all the above done and is very happy with the procedure . So it was a success. Dan

My husband, who is 43, is having his cataract surgery next month. I wonder if all the UV exposure before the polarized fishing glasses had anything to do with it. He's got none of the risk factors you named either. I told him he shouldn't get them fixed or he'll see all my wrinkles.
