Din Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I have all my standard caddis done for the year, but just came up with this. Have seen it done w/ chenille but I couldn't find mine so I used some foam. I figure with the type of hook it will increase solid hook ups. Anyway, looking for opinions. I'm on a snowshoe rabbit craze, so I like the ones w/ it as the wing better than the elk. Quote
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 i love swinging my hook low in the water for a dry fly. I would show you the design that i use but its classified by the fishing government for being too good. Quote
admin Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Those look solid. I love the hare as well. I think that you're much better off using the foam here rather than chenille. The chenille (or yarn ) will just take on water. Killer design. Quote
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 totally, foam is key on that design. Quote
Harps Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Nice pattern A couple of ideas: I'd go for a smaller hook and tie the body shorter (2/3rds the wing). Also add a dubbed thorax (seal fur, antron, etc) with picked out fibers to imitate legs. I've used the furled foam... love the look, but can get chewed pretty fast (good thing)! Quote
