petti Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 just wondering if anyone is willing to let me in on a good brookie steam not super far from the city. Im not asking for anyones hot spots just the stream name would be awesome THx Tight lines Quote
Conor Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Cataract Creek. Walk downstream from the campground and fish to the falls. More brookies than you could ever want. Quote
Keith Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I second Cataract Creek. Both upstream and downstream of the falls. Upstream of the trunk road, walk to the second bridge and then fish up. There are a lot of brookies in there. Downstream of the falls there are several species. Quirk Creek also has lots of brookies and it would be good if you got involved in the Brook Trout Supression Project. Quote
gustuphson Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Elbow River in Red Wood Meadows had some log jams I remember being pretty good for Brook trout... Also up around the Bragg Creek Provincial Park and a small stream that's crossed by the West Bragg Creek road I think but it's been a few years... Nothing huge but lots of fun Quote
Guest tallieho Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I read an early post on here from sundancefisher, asking for help fishing the brookies in Quirk creek.Seems that F&W & T.U. have a project going on in this creek [bragg creek area],chk-out the reg's. gone fishing Quote
gillmy Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I was up in Cataract creek this last weekend and caught some brookies. They were not huge, but were hitting dries hard - lots of fun. We were walking upstream of the campground to several small pools. Quote
birchy Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Got lots of replies from posting the same question last year.. kind of amusing looking back and just seeing how much I've learned in the past year.. I didn't even know where Cataract Creek was in this post: http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?...l=hunt+brookies Quote
