rusty Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 With our trip to Alaska only 6 weeks away, I've been tying up big bunny bugs for the trip. The Norvise is amazing for these. I really like tying on these Waddingtons, even for flies that aren't articulated. I think a split ring and 2/0 Gammy will work well and the hook can be changed easily. Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 bunny strips and norvise....a salmon/steelhead/bull trouters dream nice ties man, those greens are SERIOUSLY green haha.. you guys are gonna have a retarded trip, i'm insanely jealous coho i assume? Quote
rusty Posted May 17, 2008 Author Posted May 17, 2008 Kings and sockeye. Can't wait to break in the new 1090-4 Xi2 and Nautlius CCF. The guide figures that you're having a great trip if you land one in 10 kings you hook. Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 chinooks already, cool *hit. now im really jealous, 50lb chinook that decides he's going wherever the hell he wants lol..that 10 weight's gonna be tested for sure Quote
johnbransfield Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Sick ties, cohos dont usually come till later on. Chinooks are the first in, hence the name "springs" or "spring salmon" Quote
Guest Jeremie Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 coho will show up in september and pinks in july, springs will be awesome tho Quote
ladystrange Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 we caught the tail end of the chum and middle of the silvers in Seward a few years back, mid sept. not on the fly but wild ride anyway. fished pinks in the campbell and quansam end of last august on the fly. pink run was low and the silvers sat off shore waiting for the river to rise before they started.. have a great time.
