126barnes Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 I bought a fly line that was new out of box hoping someone can help me ID it. Its a 4wf multi color line...............olive taper with a peach running line. see the pic Quote
Brownstone Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 just a guess but olive and peach sound like a Cortland line.. pick it up in town outta some bargain bin .. ? Cortland pretty popular on the rock Quote
126barnes Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 I picked it up for 25 bucks, I don't know much about lines, I just run 444 on all my rod with a cheap-o sinking line on an extra spool for a change up. I don't know much about lines and was hoping that the multi color line would be at least a mid to upper quality line ...................sure even a crstyal river line will run you 20 bones. I'll find out when I get my rod kit put together I guess. Quote
JMasson Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 Looks like the good ol' Cortland peach/ green line...333, if I'm not mistaken. Been a while since I used it but it was a good line to me. Quote
Brownstone Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 gettin geared up for the sea trout are ya Barnes? wish I was near, always a toss up .. go for the trout or salmon .. salmon always win.. Quote
126barnes Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 I've been on them since Feb............................but the runs are only starting now.........geting the odd young female hovering backing and forth on the tides. Kelts and resident browns have made the year so far, but looking forward to fresh fish. I'm hoping to get into salmon this year, been lucky to be working with a guy who has fished for them on both sides of the pond for the last 40plus years and offered to take me out. Also geting great help on the fly tying from him he was taught by one of the best.......................lucked in for sure Quote
Brownstone Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 awesome .. gimmie a holler if you head out west for salmon i can point you in the right direction .. Quote
