Eco Rebates For Upgrading Energy Efficiency In Homes

Ya, you pay 2 times what the equipment install is worth then the gov't gives you next to nothing back. Great deal.

Here's a tip Sun, if you are planning on any equipment upgrades wait another 2years before you buy any furnaces or hot water heaters. The technology is mind blowing in the commercial market right now and will only get better for the residential market. I have recently worked with boilers that are 99% + efficient. The residential market is lagging behind a bit and is still costly but within a couple of years will drop and the technology will be better.

try this:

follow the links through to water heaters (pm me if necessary to find hot water heaters). ah hell, here it is:

http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/residential/persona...ment.cfm?attr=0

'heating equipment and controls' has hot water heaters under it.

this was the program that was implemented by the liberals, criticized by the tories, axed by the tories, and then re-implemented by the tories under this new name. guess they agree on something after all!

not sure if alberta has a rebate program.

LOL

I just called and asked how it works.

Pay $250 and get and inspection followed by $150 for a follow up inspection after the work is done. If you did the work the Alberta Gov. give you $200 back.

Replace a furnace...get $300 back...highest efficiency furnace gets you $500 back. Install a $25,000 hot water well and get $3,500 back. Replace a $1000 window with Low E double pane and get $30 back! Yup windows are worthless according to the energy savings folks.

Sigh...
