fishfreak Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Hey Brent, are they clearing out the old G3's where you work? I may have to come by sometime. I forget what size fit me the best. Quote

Also, when you pay for their waders, you're paying for the advertising as well. Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Of course you are, just like anything, you're paying for the name on the front.. but that name on the front also comes with the company that backs up that name, and doesn't put out shoddy products... I like: Patagonia due to the fact that i've never ever had a problem with their gear, EVER. (except the Lambs Wool sweater my mom decided to shrink to about an XXXXS). They also are one of the most ecological of any business in fishing and outdoor gear. Few companys donate the time and money that patagonia does (hell, go read their site, you can get sponsored for just doing something different for a wierd trip, or some epic camping in who knows where) And, they started 1% for the planet, good enough reason to stand behind them Enough arguing, either way, all of our waders start to smell terrible in the end anyway Quote
vhawk12 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Fishpro: Don't forget that eventhough you can get them for $350 shipped, you may have to pay some heftly customs/brokerage fees when they deliver them to your door (or local postal outlet). With new merchandise, you'll have to pay duty and GST. I bought a used jacket off ebay for $60 which I got the guy to ship marked 'used merchandise' so I didn't have to pay duty or GST and when it got to the door, UPS wanted another $33.00 (but have experienced this with Canada Post as well). Just be aware of this...I work at a ski shop where I've had people come in and tell me they can get a snowboard online for $100 less than at our shop...I say, wow that's a good deal, then I ask "is that shipped?" sometimes they say yes, sometimes no. Then I ask "does that include all border fees?" (duty, etc.) They usually don't know or say no. So (not saying this is the case here) then they do a little math in their head and realize that our price isn't much higher after all...plus we give them a free wax or two (about $30 value) and a place they can come back to if there are any problems. I do buy things online, but I make sure I take all those things into consideration. I mostly buy used stuff that's in awesome shape so that I get it cheap and the shipping/duty etc. still makes it worthwhile. Just my .02 Quote
