EdB Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 so my mom is coming out in June for a visit and wants to do a float down the Bow river. When does the run off hit? She can come at the beggining or the end of June. Waht do you all think would be better? She loves fishin our river. Going to get her to FF this year. She has allways spin casted and now that i have the extra gear i want her to try FFing. Is there any other place you think that i should take her? We allways do a little trip into the Rockies but i don't know where to take her to fish there. Any help would be great. Ed Quote
gravelman Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 to bad it wasnt later or i would say some terrestial fishing that could hook anyone into the sport. Quote
ladystrange Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 i think this year is going to be hard to predict for water levels with the recent snow. if it warms early then the water level will be higher at the beginning. but if she wants to fish the eastern slopes, she will have to wait until after the 16th anyway. i have only fished down south, not much say around longview. but if the water levels are decent towards the end of june, try the highwood or cataract Quote
Guest bigbadbrent Posted February 11, 2008 Posted February 11, 2008 All dependent on rain and when it starts to melt. We're at an 'average' snowpack in the highwood region, but the snow doesnt really hit till april and may up there anyway. Best bet is end of june for sure for any of the streams, but even that is a tight rope to be walking for any and all streams..way too unpredictable. Highwood, Oldman (if its clear) are tough to cross until the first or second week of July (again, totally variable every year...the runoff could wipe out that spot you normally cross..), especially for someone who is not used to it and doesn't know their spots. You got two pontoons, so if it all does go to hell, can take her out to wedge to catch some gorgeous grayling Quote
