unclebuck Posted December 21, 2007 Share Posted December 21, 2007 I have fished with a cork reel for some time but have always hated the ripping sound when pulling line from the reel. I was sight fishing on a small flat water section of creek last summer and noticed that the sound alone sent the trout scrambling. I would sneak up remain low and slowly strip a bit of line 2-3 ft before casting. as soon as the sound was heard they were gone! frustrating. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else has modified thier reels or had any other gear suggestions. I ended up taking out the spring today - no more sound... the only downside I can see is not attracting attention (with the rippng sound) when you have a big fish on taking out line. Any comments? Guest bigbadbrent Posted December 22, 2007 Share Posted December 22, 2007 What kind of reel is it? I know with the Bauer ones, you can just take the clicker off of the disk drag.
