unclebuck Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I have fished with a cork reel for some time but have always hated the ripping sound when pulling line from the reel. I was sight fishing on a small flat water section of creek last summer and noticed that the sound alone sent the trout scrambling. I would sneak up remain low and slowly strip a bit of line 2-3 ft before casting. as soon as the sound was heard they were gone! frustrating. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else has modified thier reels or had any other gear suggestions. I ended up taking out the spring today - no more sound... the only downside I can see is not attracting attention (with the rippng sound) when you have a big fish on taking out line. Any comments? Guest bigbadbrent Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 What kind of reel is it? I know with the Bauer ones, you can just take the clicker off of the disk drag. All it is is the part that hits the side that clicks, find that part, take it out and see if your reel still works, and you're golden Quote
