BurningChrome Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Join the Bow River Chapter of Trout Unlimited in another step in restoring the riparian environment of Legacy Island. On June 17 we will be hand pulling leafy spurge throughout the island, in an attempt to gain control over this noxious weed. Spurge is spreading throughout the Bow River valley and once established, is very hard to control without heavy herbicide use. We are going to attempt to remove this year’s crop before it goes to seed, to gain some control over the spread. We may also remove burdock and black henbane if we have time. In addition to weed pulling, we have about 80 poplar seedlings to plant, and several hundred more recently planted poplars to water.
