I took some time to tie some different nymphs after a friend of mine showed me a few tricks. Sorry for the crappy pics. If I do this more often, I'll come up with a better setup for pics. Hopefully I'll be able to try these out on Friday...

 

Beadhead Pheasant Tail

Hook - size 14 Mustad nymph

Head - 1/8" gold bead, peacock herl, shiny plastic sheet (don't know what it's actually called)

Body - pheasant tail and red copper wire

Tail - pheasant tail

This fly was money last Saturday. real simple tie too.

Hook: Tiemco 2457 #16

Tail: misc. feather bits from my waste bin (could use pheasant tail I guess I don't think its important)

Body: Red 30 AWG ceramic coated copper wire

Head: Olive Ice Dub, Green Craft Beed

This is a sweet looking pattern! The green bead really adds to it. Thanks for sharing.

I like this. Can you tell me please what the difference is between standard and ceramic coated copper wire. I have never seen ceramic coated over in England.

Ceramic coated wire is used to wrap ferrites to make electomagnets and transformers. The ceramic provides insulation so that wire can be wrapped touching the neighbouring wrap without any conduction.

 

Oh and I use it cause its what I have. My job and schooling involves electronics. Any fine red copper wire would work just as well, but if you are interested I am sure there are electronics component stores or hardware stores that carry this stuff over there as well. I bought it for ~$10 and the roll will last forever
