pblundon Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 New to the Bow and it's been great so far. It seems to be my impression(from what I have read here) that midges are the way to go this time of year and into the winter. Just wondering if you have any suggestions for specific midge patterns I can tie (colors, size)? Also any thoughts on other patterns that are known to pick up fish later in the year? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again!!! Phillip Quote
relk19 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Griffiths gnat is my go to for midge imitations, looks like a big clump of them together. Works well even in the summer months as well. Quote
BurningChrome Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 For nymphs, zebras and snow cones in red and black work well. 1 Quote

jtaylor Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 additional questions: my problem with fishing a midge nymph is that I can't seem to get a fish to eat one. Any tips? Also, how long do you hold up at a hole this time of year? I usually will probably send 15- 20 mins at a spot chang my fly 2-3 times then move on unless I know there's a beast. Quote
