This week's challenge allows any materials you want or have on hand. The only requirement is that some part of the fly must be woven. Compared to last week this one is way easier.

Never tried weaving before, so i just kind of sat down at the vice and went to it. Not really sure what it's supposed to be but it looks pretty cool at least.

 

Thread: Black 70 denier UTC

Hook: Dai-Riki #710 size 12

Bead: 5/32 brass bead

Tail: Goose Biots

Abdomen: Woven copper and black medium ultra wire

Thorax: Peacock Herl

Back/ Wing Case: Amber thin skin

Legs: Partridge feather

I'm sure that will work but I have never seen a shell type back on the woven part before. I like your thought process on that,
(thinking out side the box). Just goes to show you that there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to tying. Imagination is king.

I had originally tied one without the shell back, but I didn't like the way the woven black wire looked over the back. It's really hard to do it justice with the iPhone camera pictures.

Due to the show this past weekend there is no new challenge this week but the first two challenges are open to submit to. Actual all the challenges will be left open so that newcomers and or those who are not sure at the original posting time can submit.

 

There will be a new challenge next week.
