ruffsranger
Does anyone have first hand information about hotels & golfing in this location. We are all reasonably decent players ( although seniors ) & aren't intimidated by difficult tracks. Not interested in 5 star accommodations; just good courses, decent hotels & good food at a decent price. Flying from Calgary, probably mid March. Thanks. Will post on AOF also. RunnyD
Went there for my 40th birthday. Golf trip to remember. We stayed at the Barefoot Yacht Club and booked through myrtlebeachgolf.com. There was 8 of us so we booked 2 suites. Huge, clean suites with full kitchen and laundry. It's not ocean side but we didn't feel like we were missing out on it. Not sure if that's what you require but it was awesome. There's a mall nearby and some kind of alligator museum/park. Make sure you make it into town too, lots to see/do including dipping your feet in the ocean. We played TPC Myrtle Beach (DJ's home course), Long Bay (Nicklaus course), MB National Kings North (Palmer course), and Wild Wing Avocet. Out of the four, MB National was my favourite. Beware of the lemurs there. They like to steal shiny things out of your cart like range finders... haha. As for food, look for non-franchisy looking BBQ joints. Good and cheap. Golf is cheap there, it's just a long day of flying from the west. Enjoy it.
