RunnyD
Just bought some mini sink tip line to attach to the end of my floating line. It came in a 12' length and was wondering if I need to cut it down. I usually dry fly and indicator nymph on the Bow with a floating line but wanted to try a sink tip. Any tips/suggestions? How long of a leader after the sink tip should I use, etc... Thanks. ÜberFly
Don't cut it back just yet (if at all)... Try it out first to see if the sink rate is what you are looking for with the depth of water you usually fish ("technically" sink tips should be used with unweighted flies). 16" - 18" tippet should be adequate up to 24" or so... For bullies I usually go 16" - 18", swivel and then another 12" of tippet (or steel leader for pike). P
