Guest Jeremie Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 So i had a brutal day on the lake today, lost an anchor, and the electric motor torched 2 fly lines. Ones a Type 6 full sink which is frustrating but i know exactly which line to buy for it. The other was my floating line, so i need a new floating line and with a sale at a certain outdoor sports store, I want to know what everyone likes. But firstly this will be an all around dry line, nymphing, dryfly, chironomid, stillwater bugs. This will be a 6wt WF because my 10' 5wt needs to be uplined. I've always had RIO gold and liked them, but i'm curious to what others are using. I was thinking maybe a SA Sharkskin GPX taper, or a textured series GPX taper, anything really. Dont know a whole lot about airflo but have heard good things and i figure this would be a good time to maybe go a different route. Any Opinions are appreciated guys! Thanks Quote
ÜberFly Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I prefer GPX over Rio Grand (for all my fast action rods - Rio grand has a slightly longer head so it roll casts like a dream, but doesn't loat the rod as good as the GPX - IMHO) and Rio gold for my medium & med/fast action rods! For over-lining a 10' 5wt, I would 1st try the 5 wt GPX as it's a 1/2 wt heavier (borrow someone's & give it a chuck) and then move up from there... P Quote
