Gaffer Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 This is a basic X Caddis but I have added some foam to make it float a little better & make it more visible. I have also done some with a dubbed head under the foam which I think I like better. Andrew Quote

Gaffer Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 Nice tye. Google up balloon caddis for some other options. The balloon caddis was part of the inspiration for this, but I had not seen it before with the antron shuck like on the X caddis. One of my problems with the X caddis is it does not float well, so I thought the addition of foam would help for floatation & visibility. I also tied a FX2 version with a dubbed head, which I think I like a little better. Andrew Quote

flyfishfairwx Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 That looks like a Roman Moser Balloon Caddis!! At least in the style of a RM BC.. The balloon caddis was part of the inspiration for this, but I had not seen it before with the antron shuck like on the X caddis. One of my problems with the X caddis is it does not float well, so I thought the addition of foam would help for floatation & visibility.
