Thompson Model "a" Vise Inquiry

I want to reverse the jaws on my Model "A" (top is getting a little chewed up) and I'm not sure if the pin can be removed (unscrewed) or I have to cut it off and replace. I know you can replace the jaws with a smaller midge set, so it has to come off/out some how...

 

Any advise?

I just turned my jaws so the lock lever is pushed up rather than down. I didn't want to get into changing out the mechanics on an inexpensive vise.

Yeah I was going to do that, but it interfers with tying (in some circumstances, IMO). Plus I want to get some midge jaws.
