I've seen videos where flies are rigged to have the stinger hook point facing up and others where it's facing down. I was wondering if anyone knew the theory behind putting the hook up?

I know on my tubes i use the hook hang down.I read an article on this ill see if i can find it.But there was a reason or 7 that they prefered the hook point down.

i like the hook point up.. i try too get the fish hooked in the top part of the jaw.. feel i have a little more control over the fish, also i feel i dont hook as much debri when drifting lower in the water column.. but i have a bunch of friends who swear the hook holds better if its in the fishes lower jaw..... so its all up too paith i suppose!

I always think hook pointed up and barbells on the bottom side of the fly, like max said, the fly wont snag as much when fished right on the bottom.
