Taco Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I've been thinking I should upgrade my zoom lenses. Anybody using either of these 2 Tamron lenses and what do you think? Already checked the online reviews. AF28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) AF70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro Thanks Quote
sirocco Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 First off, I don't have any experience with Tamron lenses. However, I do own a lot of lenses, a few of which are third party like Tamron. It's my experience that if you buy a lens because it looks comparable to the camera brand's own model with similar specs but at 1/2 or 2/3 the price, you'll end up disappointed. You're just going to end up wishing you'd saved the money you spent on the third party lens and instead put it into the top of the line lens. Unfortunately, my experience is only with Nikon vs. third party lenses, and so I can't speak for the quality of Pentax lenses. Basically I'm not really much help at all. But that's my two cents. I will buy nothing but Nikon glass for my Nikon body from now on, for what it's worth. Quote
Weedy1 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I agree with Sirocco. The top of the line lens also hold their value better than the mid lines. Now is a good time to buy a Pentax lens as long as Pentax stays in the game. If Pentax could get out of the DSLR slump they have been in the prices of Pentax lens would also increase. This won`t happen in my opinion until they start pumping out some pro model cameras and extend the line of lens they have now. Things for Pentax seem to be looking up as of late though. What you really should be asking is "How the hell do I sneak a Pentax DA* 60-250 in the door?" Quote
Taco Posted January 15, 2010 Author Posted January 15, 2010 Oh hell I know you guys ain't wrong. Now all I have decide is that DA* 60-250 or maybe a DA* 50-135mm and a D FA 50mm macro. And Weedy...... a lens is easier to sneak than rods or shotguns Quote
sirocco Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I like the looks of that 50-135 compared to the 60-250. But it depends on what you plan to use it for ... Quote

Weedy1 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 And Weedy...... a lens is easier to sneak than rods or shotguns Yes, just stick it down the front of your pants. They never look there anymore anyways. Quote
