Mickey Doodle Hook: Partridge CS15 #4 Thread: White 6/0 Body: Silver tinsel Belly: Yellow bucktail Throat: Red schlappen Wing: Yellow hackle over red hackle Shoulder: Red Chinese hen back Eye: Jungle Cock nail Head: Black 6/0 thread with a red band Quote
Flytyer Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I'll take 6 please , looking good Darren Quote
Swede Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Really nice classic streamer. Never fished one before, must lose alot of fish to that long shank. Ive always found longer shanked hooks tend to pop out alot easier. Still what fly tyer doesn't want a set of Carrie Stevens classic's on the wall to admire. Quote
admin Posted September 5, 2009 Author Posted September 5, 2009 I'm not sure how well they would fish, but I know that Dave and Max have thrown a few and caught a few browns out of the bow. If I was going to fish this one, I'd tie up a tandem on shorter shanks for sure. Carrie herself landed some really nice landlocked Salmon and large lake dwelling Brookies. I'm still trying to get a Carrie original, but I'm not prepared to dish out 300$ + for a fly just yet. lol Quote
bhurt Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Very nice fly. I personally have always enjoyed looking at classic tied flies but wouldn't want to try and tie one myself. Good job Darrin. Quote
Swede Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Check this site out, some of the best fly tyers in the world on it. You might have to join the site to view people's flys. Well worth it though. http://www.classicflytying.com/index.php?act=idx Quote
