  1. Ya Taco we fish the same country, Have heard of overshooting and putting the bear in your lap. But still i tested it and its 20 seconds quicker to grab the launcher. If your pullin out the spray the bears within shittin distance oh wait i see they have the glow in the dark triggers know. Taco are ya headin to BH.

  2. Ok here it goes. Ive been carrying bear spray for the last few years. i have switched over to the centerfire pen. Includes bangers and flares of two colors. I can get this out of my pocket and launch in 10 seconds-good for 150ft. The spray costs more , has a 20 ft spray and by the time you unholster ,pop the cap its too late . No expiry date on the pen.Spray has 3 years. Whats does everyone else carry to the deep criks. Both cost the same.

  3. Hell i worked for weyerhaeuser for 20 years. Toolman will know all about this. Were the only plant making money ,you guys are great and the next day BAM. Did it slow me down, Ya nervous at first but hell making the fishn trips i planned when i was workin. Dont let it bother ya youll go insain. Wake up go fishn and say its great to be alive.

  4. i would say start at 10 0r 12 feet and cast em figure out if its too long for you or just right if so chop it until you find the length you like too fish then pick up some more tips and cut em too that length.. most shots sell t-4 t-6 t-11 t-14 etc........ that way u can have a number of sink rates with tips that cast in the sweet spot

Thats what i was wonderin. I can make the individual sink tips to length to control the depth. But i need to go to the T-4,T-6 to control the rate. Just wanted to use up the 2 pkgs of T-14.Thanks guys. Was more concerned about adding the tips to the GPX if the front was heavy enough to handle the tips.

  5. Am looking at my vast array of lines. Was wondering instead of changing cartridges or lines when im on the river, I have 2 pkgs of T-14, Would it work if i made interchangable sink tips to add to the end of my dry lines via loop knot.. My dry lines are GPX. Im not talkin about 10-15 ft but 3-7 ft so i can change to streamers on the fly. Am i asking for trouble b4 i start choppin up tips. Thanks for the input.

  6. What happens if you have a barbeque and the soot and ash falls on the ice...black ice melts faster :-)

Although it may be considered pollution :-(

The simplest thing to do is open the ice up on the west side in one area and let the wind and waves rip the ice apart in a day. Probably a 6 foot X 6 foot opening would grow very quickly.

Ill just take the pontoooooon, 15 lb anchor and the trollin motor. Any one want to join could make a day trip of it. Anchor should punch through the ice a few times. Like an ice breaker just softer.

  7. I,ve had some petty good days to midging trout on the surface in April. But I noticed even during some pretty heavy BWO hatches the fish seem to key in on the nymphs with only sporadic risers to be found. But I always carry a few dries because you never know.

Got my first one today at the location. Saw a fish rise 3 times and figured what the hay. Tied on a small winter ------- and on the 2nd drift he nailed it. But wait fly was partially submerged in the riffle does that mean dry or emerger, hmmm just a thought now that i think about it.

  8. Me and Cuttbow and Flyfishfairwx had a nice day on friday... will have to post a report and some pics too. I couldn't do anything wrong and ended up with quite a few fish to hand, some goofy stuff worked for me, like standing up on a bluff and casting into a pool resulted in my biggest fish of the day (near 19 inch or so). It was fantastic, warm, and fun.

I'd have posted sooner but... had a booboo on the way home last night.

    Brian

Was a beautiful day on the crow. Ya you standing on that bluff and hooking that nice bow was priceless. We wont reveal what quite a few fish were for you, but you were definately on fire. Totally insane was the word i was looking for.Was nice to end the day on the double header. Sorry to hear about your BooBoo on the way home. Hope everything is ok.

You even managed to turn 2 more guys to the dark side.LOL

  9. I think your bang on the money. Theirs nothin worse than some A-hole screwin with the queens english too piss me off. People need two smarten up in fli write...

ya its also been noted that engish is the most simple and yet complicated language on the planet. There(their) are too many words that sound the same yet have to many opposite meaning. Like you said TWO,TO.TOO.Hey how many words in FF are the same single and spey. Not close. Think we should make our own universal language and have one word BAW!

  10. was trying to target a species lst week. 2 younger guys were at the hole already using ice fishing rods as spin casters. You know the 2 footers. When i approached them wanting to fish the hole, they never even conceiled the fact they were using bait and barbed hooks to snag fish.Gee cell phone in my hand , told them no bait , no barbs. Two other flyfisherman approachad and i asked them if they were their friends. No was the reply . i told them bait was illegal in the area and you must use barbless hooks. I got asked who the@%%$# I was And if i wanted to join in the fun. Easy done one phone call and they stood there and fished for 2 hrs until the co showed up. The one guy said he had read the reg 4 times. oops hope they wont be fishn for a while.

  11. Iwas cleaning out my bench and packs and vests and realized i had 17 fly boxes. Midges ,chronies, nymphs, streamers and pike flies.I usually carry about 5-6 but on my last 2 outings ive realized i hadnt the flies i needed. Maybe i should be the carrying a full size backpack. Addicted to the tying! everytime i see a new pattern i tie up a dozen that of coarse is in 6 different sizes. Ya im addicted and my name is ...........Any one want to but a tying bench. Thank god there are no salmon in this country. <--poke--< What there are more flavors of SWW than just red.

  13. Yo Cuttbow, single spey? yeah but only about 10x rod length.

Just noticed your location, you living over there in the acreages w/the rest of Claresholm's upper crust and my little brother? I myself reside in the lower rent part of town and only allowed over there to visit on occasion.

No im just holed up in the poo downtown district. Too many rods, cant afford the upper crust district.

  14. This has gone on way too long. We need to pressure the ab gov to increase the price of non-res fishing licenses, lets say 20 a day to fish alberta water. BC's laughing at it so lets put some pressure on the gov to do something about it. Just think of the extra tripploids we could stalk with the extra cash. So who dont we call or e-mail to balance this out. lets loby for it. Ya grew up fishing in the elk river with my grandfather now cant justify the cost to relive old memories.
