    Spring Fishing

Just to clear out things: This crazy rule, that forbids C&R is applied only in Switzerland. Certainly not in all other European countries including Germany. Best regards, Ben Holland

    Mullard

It's pure sightfishing, very exciting ! I take my bike and look for a school of mullets (like bonefish, you can see the tips of their tails above the watersurface) in undeep water (maybe a foot or so). You carefully sneek upstream and slowly let the "algue-imitation" drift as close to their mouth as possible. Sometimes they take it.....

    Mullard

Oeps, thanks esleech, it ís a mullet, sorry, should have looked in the dictionary before...... Yes, it is a salwaterspecies that come in the rivers during summer to spawn. Very hard to catch with flies but much easier with a spinning rod with a piece of bread on the hook. But so much more fun to finally have one with my fly rod. Guess that's the difference between quality and quantity ......??!! You find them almost everywhere in the world but they grow very big in our region. Regards, Ben

    Mullard

Hi all, OK, it's not a salmonide, but it was the strongest fish (per pound) that I had on a fly so far. Because a mullard is strictly vegatarian you can only seduce them by an imitation of.....weed. Algue in this case, imitated by some olive marabou on a strong hook. It was my first mullard on the fly ever. Had him (her ??) last weekend on an #8 and he was about 25". A real beauty! Like it? Ben, Holland
  9. Might look familiar to you Brian !!?? Take care, Ben

    Slovenia

So you like stories and pictures? Let me first give you a short introduction to explain my interest in this forum. I visited Alberta last year with a friend of mine and we were guiding through your magnificent country by Brian Bowcrow Peace. Fished the Crowsnest, Livingstone, Castle, Oldman, Bullshead and the Bow. We had an absolute great time and still have so many nice memories. But, in Europe we got nice places to as the pictures I made during a trip to the Sava river in Slovenia will tell. But I missed the Cutts and the Bulls..... I love grayling.... It is a good place to be... Tried to place more but the available space seems to be only 100K. I'll be back ! Best regards, Ben, Holland
