  1. I fished opening day of city stretch this morning and was frustrated with the didymo. These are my observations from last year:

    Very little didymo right below Bearspaw dam.

    14street bridge to Downtown Didymo picks up steam

    Zoo area didymo is crazy thick

    Downstream of Fish creek not very noticeable

    Is anyone else seeing same thing? If so wondering why...

  2. Driving to Whitefish MT on Friday. Wondering if anyone has a strong preference on route. As far as I can see, there are 2 ways;

    1) Roosville Crossing via Fernie (Crowsnest)

    2) Carway Crossing via Fort MacLoed (Hwy 2)

    Goal is to get to Whitefish in least amount of time. Have done the Hwy to the Sun...amazing! But, time is not on my side for this trip.

    Appreciate any advice!

  3. I was out last weekend at Glenmore Trail. I also noticed a big stonefly hatch, with the stones coming out of water and scurrying to the bank...but no fish taking notice. Started at 4pm, finally caught my first fist with my head lamp on. River was dead until dark, then it came alive! Got a couple 16" browns on the biggest stimulator pattern I had.

  4. I typically fly fish from shore on the lower bow. Working the banks from a drift boat with a hopper i'm sure is the ideal position. However, if you are using a Hopper from shore, any tips or reccomendations out there? I would think you would still try to hit the banks casting upstream as well as letting the hopper swing towards shore at the end. Is the Hopper pattern still productive casting away from the banks in middle sections of the river?? Thanks and have a great August on the water!!
