Always used polarized oakleys, found they scratched too easily

That's always going to be a problem with plastic/polycarbonate lenses. Glass won't scratch as easily but they'll be heavier and more expensive.

As for glasses themselves, I think once you hit a certain price point they're all pretty good and it just comes down to the frames that are most comfortable for you.

Some schlappen, dubbing or chenille would work. I tend to use ice dub. Stack the fibers then tie in at the mid point (or however long you want it) and fold/brush it back over.  Just Make sure you have a good thread base so whatever you do tie there, sticks after. It’s annoying half way through your day to find your cone pushed halfway down the shank of your hook.

Simi seal or STS trilobal work nice too. With the longer fibers I usually split the thread and wrap it in that way. Another option is to put a few wraps of lead behind the cone and either super-glue it to the hook or build up a thread ramp right behind it to keep it in place so then you don't have to build up a bunch of thread right behind the cone. Depends how heavy you want it.

Met a few dinks last night and this seemed like the right place for my question.

3 guys gear fishing from shore on the Bow. Watched them catch and "release" a few fish. They would bring the fish in, drag it onto shore and then proceed to grab it in the gill and walk it up shore to their buddy with a camera. Each fish laid on the ground at least once while waiting for the camera (worst was 4 times that I counted). After the shot they would gill the fish again and literally throw it by its gills into the river. Each out of the water for around 5 mins.

Saw this on 4 separate fish from a hundred meters or so downstream. When I walked back to my car I politely asked them to try to release their fish quicker as what they were doing was likely killing the fish. They werent happy at the suggestion and some less than nice words were exchanged before I left. I reeeeally wanted to call RAP, but I didnt see any bait or dead fish and wasnt sure if I would be wasting their time.

Is there anything illegal about this? What would you do? Maybe try to record them or something?

Next time call RAP and let them sort it out.

I have to get on some Boatmen tying. Is that a pattern you've used before...effective? Looks great! Those beetles also look cool. Ive never used a beetle.

That boatman is an old Idylwilde pattern created by long time Bow river guide Dee Chatani, so yeah it works pretty decent. You can still find it in the bins in some Calgary shops.

I don't know if I would call 14yrs a quick process at all.

That's if you assume that it was introduced into Alberta waters immediately after the last test in 2003. But yeah, let's focus on whether or not 14 years is quick because that's the real issue here.

It is really difficult to read the tables on your phone.  It is 2 print pages per PDF page.  At the very least, the PDF version should be split into single print pages.

If you go to http://www.albertaregulations.ca/fishingregs/index.html they have the regs for each zone formatted as a single page properly oriented for easy viewing like http://www.albertaregulations.ca/fishingregs/ES1-Rivers.pdf

Only downside is that you'll have to download separate pdfs for lakes and rivers in each zone, but at the same time you only have to download the regs for where you fish.

Why don’t they make the symbols mean the same thing. Lakes default is bait allowed, shows all the boxes checked. Then when you go to rivers bait ban is default and all the boxes checked.

is it that hard to just write bait ban in Each box?

I don't know why they haven't made an app for the regs yet. The tables aren't very well formatted for a mobile device and who even carries around a paper copy of the regs any more?
