Lets see the video!!!!!

Other than the narrowed road to the 'launch' and the lack of staging/parking area you'd think there's plenty of room for more than one or two guys to physically launch a boat at policemans now.
-
I'm a fan of the mirage, location is great. TI is alright too, normally a little cheaper.
-
I got a large one on Sunday, their still there
-
I was ok in 4x4 the other night at mck, soft but manageable. There was a fellow in a mini van that was stuck, probably pretty happy when I showed up! I wouldn't drive out there without 4x, there's gotta be some soft spots in that gravel

Glenmore is not, policemans is not. Well, maybe it is, you'd have to get to it though. Mck is probably ok, but you'd have to get to it. Carseland is not. Going to be a tough floating season...

Harvey Passage is now open for boat traffic, the safety boom is now gone so users can float through the passage. There is a new safety boom across the intake on river left of the class 3 rapids.
If some dude is going to ride the rapids after his 6th beer in his nautica 2 that he bought from walmart for 19.97 a boom isn't going to stop him. As said there are signs, actually a bunch of them on both sides of the river and flashing LED signs starting 3k upstream of the weir. There is almost always a CPS and CFD presence pretty much any time i've been down there. What more can be done, you can't fix drunk and stupid.
What I was trying to say is the safety boom is not installed upstream of the carsland weir as of last weekend
-
Not to downplay someone's stupidity for attempting to go over the weir...but when we floated down there last weekend the safety boom was not across the river. Since I've floated down there hundreds of times I'm aware of the weir and boat launch locations. Some weekend warrior with his Walmart raft may not have known, sad, but you'd thunk the safety line should be across the river this time of year. Don't be stupid, know what to expect and where your going!

Use them all the time, never a problem or a worry
-
Probably about a 6hr straight float right now

Its ready to go, frame is together and hanging in my garage, pontoons are down in the basement. .
Do you know the frame difference between the standup and the regular 10-IR? I have the regular but would be interested in picking up the stand-up portion if it's just another frame add on. If your willing to sell them separate that is!

Bought mine new in Feb 2005. Hyde brought it up to the FF Expo with them. Paid about the same as I see a lot of guys selling for used.
I wouldn't be concerned about the used boat; I'm sure it will float. However, don't discount the condition of the trailer and ensure there are fresh repacked bearings. If you can swing it try and get them to throw in counter balanced oars instead of the regular, you'll be glad you did.
Not sure if I'm too late to chirp in but we went the used Hyde route 3 years ago and I'd do it again no problem. We drove to the border to pick it up as they said it was easier for us to clear with a used boat than it was for them. Boat was exactly as they said, and there had been many pictures exchanged back and forth. They had all the paperwork in order and we were in and out of customs within 30min. Biggest hassle was getting the trailer registered, and that wasn't really too bad. Let me know if theres anything else you need to know. Pull the trigger on the deal, the guys at Hyde are great to deal with.

I got a long handled net and find it's easier to fight the fish from the boat.
If I'm floating along and the current and my kicking will help get me to shore, great, if not, I sit there and enjoy.
Don't be in a panic to get to shore, most (not all) fish will drift with you for a little while.

There's going to be a whitewater, kayak side and a choppy floating side.
As you can see the whitewater is on river left, i think it's 4 drops when it's all done.
The choppy side is river right, shouldn't be any rougher than some natural choppy river sections.

It's a punture hole, pushed in then ripped with three triangluar tails.
The hole in the internal bladder itself isn't too big, made for a 3/8" bolt on a buddys oar holder, GRRRRRRRRR.
The external cover has a nice little scratch running up it until it found a soft spot or somewhere it could grab on.
The outter hole is 1 1/2" long, looks very much like a cut.
I will give the aquaseal a try today, thanks guys.

So i put a hole in one of my pontoons loading it in the truck the other night, DOH. I've tried using a standard rubber/vinyl glue but it peels apart very easily after sitting over night. Has anyone had any success patching the internal bladder of their pontoon before? The outer shell of course has a hole now too, it's through the good stuff on the bottom, any ideas on how to repair that?
Thanks

cool tnx for the update.
anyone got info on the ht. of the ice shelf @ mck?
curious as obviously for some it's been managable to get a drift boat back on a trailer just wanted a sense of how much work it's going to be...
We got pontoons over the ice on Saturday, I'd say that the ice is maybe...6ft high?
I don't remember when i was standing there if I could see over it or not...
I think if some ice had fallen the right way you'd be able to drag the drift boat up the 'ramp' no problem.
If it gets as warm as it's supposed to yesterday and today, I'd say the ice will take a major hit and drift boats won't be a problem.
Only other thing to take into consideration right now is the river level.
The river is really low! Way lower than the fall.
Lots of places where there were 'new rocks' and gravel bars that we had to walk across with the toons.
Happy Floating!

I'm pretty sure that anything over 1.2m (4ft) requires an engineer stamped drawing within the city.
A wall constructed to 47" (3' 11") requires nothing, something to take into consideration when picking your final wall height.
The biggest thing take care of when building the do-it-yourself concrete block wall is drainage and bedding.
You need to make sure you have a good 6" of drain rock under the wall (that actually drains somewhere) and a hard level surface to start the wall from.
A quality landscaping fabric between the drain and level surface will keep the materials septate and the wall from sagging.

Came across a boat trailer strap, for a Hyde (?), it's the same as the stap that I've got on my Hyde.
Found it Friday night, Sept 25th, just after dark before the first corner heading up the McK hill.
-
We bought a used Hyde directly from Hyde.
They were great to deal with from start to finish, not the first time they've seen our type.
Only downfall was we had to drive to the border to pick it up, oh well!

My bud is planning a stag for one of our good friends in Vegas. Does anyone have any leads on houses to rent or package deals?
I just watched to movie The Hangover so we want to match or top that LOL
My advice, skip the house/condo thing.
Get a room or rooms on the strip and let loose, a suite would be alright if you can find one at a reasonable price.
We've done 2 Vegas stage and they were all EPIC, not quite the hangover but close enough.

Anyone been DS of the confluence this week?
With the return of the cold weather I'd assume that the melt has been put on pause for a little while.
-
Open wallet?
What additional fees are charged at the border?
I've head about the $200 RIV application fee and GST on the boat and trailer.
I've heard mixed stories about duty?
-
I've recently purchased a drift boat from Hyde, based in Idaho.
I will be going to pick up my new, used, boat in the next couple weeks.
Has anyone gone through this process with Canada Customs/Border Services yada yada yada?
Any advice/suggestions would be VERY helpful!
Ice + Rivers This Winter?

Yes, it will be different for sure. Some areas will become more likely to ice jam, others maybe not so much. Give it 5 winters and everyone will know what the river does during the winter again
