  1. Hello, I only fish streams, so I cannot provide much regarding lakes... Trout inland fishing seasons usually end at the end of September. Please, keep that in mind. I believe you will not see any stream trout action until you hit Duluth in MN right before entering Wisconsin. I would suggest buying your fishing licenses online and getting the regulations ahead of time. They have some great maps. In addition, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) does a great job in providing online information and maps. Here are some useful links. Minnesota: MN DNR Wisconsin: Wisconsin Maps by County Michigan: Michigan Trout Overview I have not fished up north for a number of years (I live in Minneapolis), but there are some great midwestern streams in Wisconsin and the Upper Penninsula Michigan. That is going to be a heck of a trip. If you want trout, I would not spend any time anywhere until you hit Duluth. Highly recommended that you get this book. It was quite controversial a few years back due to the "kiss and tell nature": Trout Streams of Wisconsin and Minnesota For Michigan, I cannot vouch completely for these two, but probably well worth getting, especially since you will cover so much of Michigan: Flyfishers Guide to Michigan Trout Streams of Michigan: A Fly-Angler's Guide Spending $60 in books might be well worth it. There are a lot of streams. Shoot me a PM once you have iron out your dates / trip and I will try to give you a few more tips. There is a fly shop in Superior (WI) and another one by the Brule River (WI) that might be beneficial to hit. Upper Peninsula is not that developed, so it is difficult to find good shops / info... Good luck Alex
  2. Thanks for the posts and PMs, especially the offers to take me out fishing. Unfortunately, the bow was quite high during the week! I fished this spot Monday morning without any luck... Really nice, but just too high for me. I decided to fish the Crow on Wednesday and Saturday. 400 km both ways for a couple hours of fishing, but it was worth it. Beatiful area. Anyway, looking forward to my next trip to Calgary. Tight lines and good luck the rest of the summer Alex
  3. Thanks for the tips. Although not my strength, I am bringing streamers and crossing my fingers that the river is fishable early next week. I will probably get the 5 day license starting on Monday. Gracias DonGregorio
  4. Hello everybody, I will be in Calgary the first week of July. My in-laws live in the area of Fish Creek Park and Policeman’s Flats, so driving to either of them would be easy for me. Assuming that the river is fishable, I will be able to fish early mornings, right at sunrise, for a couple hours. Wading is my only option. Based on a quick research in this forum, looks like Fish Creek Park might be a good spot to walk and wade. Are there other spots that you might recommend? Are there trails along the river that connect different landings? I was lucky to fish the Bow about 10 years ago, but it was a floating trip and I am clueless how to approach the river from a wading perspective. I live in Minnesota and fish small spring creeks and the Bow is quite intimidating. As for flies, is this a good list for early morning outings? • Hare’s Ear 12-16 • Copper John 12-18 • Prince 12-16 • Stones 6-10 • Streamers Thanks in advance for any responses. Hope I can return the favor if you look for info in Minnesota or Wisconsin fishing some day. Tight Lines
