Elkford

She is a little older so she may not want to hike to much

I have a friend from China coming to town. I would like to take a drive in the country to show her the fall colours. Larch valley will be to busy.. Any ideas where I should go within an hours drive from Calgary

Depends where you go on the fording....Just below Josephine falls has always been productive for me. I will agree the other streams are more productive but sometimes I enjoy the solitude of having a river to my self....

I fish the upper elk and its not to bad. The fording river is never busy. The fishing is not quite as good but the scenery is second to none. Close by is the bull river also

I just joined this forum this week and thought I would say hello. Looking forward to the forum. I chose the name Elkford as I have a condo down there and like to fish the Elk river. Wigwam, castle and the crow when it's not busy.

I have always fished for trout and white fish and have never fished for pike. Where is a good place close to Calgary to try my luck. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. I just picked up a 9 wt rod so I would like to try it out. I have a small pontoon boat if that helps

This was the first time I have attended this event. They said it was one of the busier years. I picked up a new Sage model z axis 890 4 piece for $250. hope to chase down some bullies and maybe try my luck at some pike. Never fished for pike on a fly rod so it will be a learning experience. They had an Able real with line to match for $270.00. I ran out of money so I did not get it. I got his number if it did not sell. I will have to some research on this real. Also picked up a Dry Cast rain jacket for $20.00 bucks that was new. Over all I eas happy with my purchases considering I had no plans of buying
