  1. Depends on time of year. Do a google search on Bow River Hatch Chart. That will help you.
  2. I'm a tall guy, 6'4" - my biggest beef with waders is that the "tall" sizes fail to properly account for foot size. The inseam of 36 is usually good but then the foot size is 11-13 which is more like a 12, which is very snug for my size 13's. Anyone out there know of a wader mfg that makes size 13+ booties with the waist size being like 42? I'm a 35-36 waist.
  3. Was that you guys on the Bow just downstream from the Deerfoot south bridge on Sunday?
  4. Had a lot of fun this past weekend in Southern Alberta. Enjoy the vid:
  5. Not gonna tell you how to get there or how far you have to walk, but try the Highwood upstream from where it enters the Bow. If you find the spot I am talking about, you'll know. Please follow the regs.
  6. Just curious what type of setup everyone prefers for fishing streamers for Bulls and larger Trout? I haven't done very much streamer fishing as I have primarily done dry and nymphing for the past 12 years. I feel it's time to round out my fly fishing skills by adding the streamer to my tactics. What I have read so far is that the key to streamer fishing for bulls et al. is to get the streamer down and hang on. So, just curious what setup the streamer experts are using out there? I assume you need sink tip line and a good strong leader to ensure you don't break off on the strike. What length of leader, or should I even bother with a leader? Maybe just tie on some 10-12lb tippet to the sink tip and be done with it? As for flies? I'm gonna pick up some double bunnies, clousers, and zonkers, I assume that those should suffice? Thanks in advance for any help. Maybe I'll see you at a nearby pool sometime.
  7. I was getting my flies down maybe 15-20 feet easy with a big heavy fly and some split shot while using floating line, so it can be done. Just curious what everyone uses for stripping technique? I like to get it down there and then twitch it, but I haven't had much luck with that. After seeing a few friends catch bulls lately I have made this my new goal, to catch a bull before the snow flies. Any help?
